CFP provides Georgia added incentive to score decisive win over Georgia Tech

Good grief, what did Texas Tech ever do to UGA fans? Long story short: the only way UGA drops lower than #4 is by losing the SEC championship game. UGA is actually more likely to move up in the polls by surpassing the Ohio State-Indiana loser (especially if it is Indiana) and/or if A&M loses one of their last 2 games. Yes, Texas Tech is ranked #5. But only because they are a P4 champion and the committee wants to keep them ahead of the 1 loss teams who really haven't done much (Oklahoma, 7-4 LSU and Tulane are the only Ole Miss wins against teams with winning records; Oregon needed 2 OTs to beat Penn State, got hammered at home by Indiana and their best wins are against 8-3 USC and 18-16 to 7-4 Iowa).

Also @JimWallace if you didn't think that TCU belonged in the playoff that season, who did? The 5th best team, Alabama, lost 2 games (giving up 32 and 52 points) and would have lost at least 2 more - especially the infamous Texas game - without blatant referee help. Everyone else wasn't even that good. And 2022 was better than 2021 when mid-major Cincinnati made the field because Brian Kelly ditched 11-1 Notre Dame for LSU and Ohio State had 2 losses thanks to the worst coached defense in the country. Plus lest we forget TCU beat basically the same Michigan team that ran the table, 15-0, the next year.

Plus it isn't as if TCU was the only playoff team ever to get blown out. Alabama would have in 2018 had Dabo not taken his foot off the gas, and that Clemson team was nowhere near as loaded as the UGA squad that TCU faced. Then there was the Bama team that scored 28 points in the first 17 minutes against Oklahoma and just spent the rest of the game bored.

If “margin of victory” is a key factor with the CFB Playoff Committee then does that encourage teams to run up the score against patsies? That’s a heck-of-a comment that could have huge implications on how teams show mercy on weak opponents. Go Dawgs and Happy Thanksgiving!!!

It’s the appearance I get from the Committee that Yes they want Huge scores from the victor over the loser. Which is as you reasonably pointed out a very Silly premise !! SOS should mean Much more than margin of victory !! Allot of West Coast and Big thinking in the Committee it appears to me. Never mind how high the opponent was ranked just lay a ton of points on cupcakes !! Crazy !! Brother I wish you and family and All our fellow Dawgs a Wonderful Thanksgiving !! I am SO Blessed to have You and many others here as my cyber friends !! Love You ALL !! Go Dawgs !!

I'd also be curious to know, what the projected "television audience & revenue" is, for each team in the top 25.

See if projected popularity and advertising dollars have any influence on the so-called "judges". They probably monitor THAT report closer than the football games. Just sayin'.. Lol.

Mike is right....why would Kirby's Dawgs take a chance, this year. Nothing is set in stone....including their ever morphing criteria matrix for selecting "the best teams".

    I think UGA's gonna stomp a 50 POINT mudhole in the Yeller'jacket's head. Lol.…go get em Machine....."Robo-Dawg".
