Benjamin Watson shares pro take on possible Georgia rematch with Ole Miss
Benjamin Watson shares pro take on possible Georgia rematch with Ole Miss
The Bulldogs typically start with working on themselves, but at some point, Coach Kirby Smart will turn his attention to the next possible opponent -- the winner of the Dec. 20 game between Tulane and Ole Miss.
Comments
The Dawgs have beaten Texas twice in a season and 3 times in a row. I don't see why Ole Miss should be any different. Charlie Weis will be calling the offense for the Rebels, so that should offer a different look for the Dawg's defense. Kirby will have the guys ready.
if Lane was still there I’d be concerned. I think we can handle them. Our defense is better and theirs is the same.
We've been a different team, particularly on defense, since late in the 3rd quarter of the Ole Miss game. That's not to say Ole Miss is incapable of beating the Dawgs. It all depends on how we prepare and how we play.
Kirby & Company are hard at work.
Of course Tulane might have something to say about whether we get another shot at Ole Miss. (I'm a Tulane fan from way back, but, should the Dawgs play Tulane, I'll be firmly in Red and Black.
Go, Dawgs!
Kiffin would concern me more as well but do you think Kiffin is still involved via communicating with Weis? I believe he remains highly invested in this team's success if for no other reason than his uber ego and he could definitely be conversing with Weis around the game plan. In-game shifts definitely won't be the same, but the game plan for the first 1-3 drives could be more Kiffin than Weis.
i think Kiffin is more focused on his new job. And I would imagine so is that whole offensive staff going to LSU. Divided attention and all that. And I’m sure the players are disappointed also. Just can’t see this not impacting them negatively. We will see for ourselves how much this weekend though.
"Georgia, however, has built momentum, to Watson’s point, particularly on defense."
I think that being able to pick up where they left off with momentum and aggressive execution is going to be the primary difference-maker. If they are able to do that, they will have what it takes to make it to the next game and beyond. Based on the comments made by CKS, he has identified the long lay-off as a potential momentum killer. I can imagine he is working a plan to turn that into an advantage for the Dawgs!
GO DAWGS!
I agree with Jim, the defense will start out like it finished in the first game. Ole Miss scored on their first five possessions in that game. They score around 17 in this game. They will try to go for it to score touchdowns instead of kicking it for three, and they will come away with nothing on some drives. After the Dawgs bury Ole Miss, the yankee media narrative will change some, but after the Dawgs whip Ohio St. again they are going to lose their minds. The melt is going to be wonderful!
Amen !! Totally agree !! Though yes it was an OT struggle in the SECCG that year our Dawgs did beat TX twice. And Dawgs beat Ole Miss WITH Lane Kiffen I believe they will beat them again Without Kiffin.
Probably won’t be easy ( though it’s surely possible it could turn out that way) but Dawgs are Trained not to look for Easy. They Know what’s at stake and will come out ready to play. And as a much more mature team to. Go Dawgs !!
I don't think it really matters who their HC is, do yall?
The only thing that can beat UGA, right now....the way they are "executing"...is UGA.
It would take an injury at quarterback...several turnovers....and, a complete breakdown on defense. Along with a sympathetic crew of Officials. Lol
Imo....Never gonna happen. UGA's backup at quarterback, is more than capable. And, this team, is Disciplined and Salty. Moreso, than anybody else I've seen, to-date.
i think if Kiffin were there and staying at Ole Miss I think it would be a tougher game. I don’t see any team in this playoff beating us though.
Without a doubt. Kiffin was the engine that made that train go. Lol...I think they'll come out hard...initially. But, I don't think it will take a whole half to break em this time. If.…Kirby doesn't hold back. Lol
i hope Tulane wins so the Gators don’t get their coach in house full time for another week
Lol....I didn't think about that. Looks like I'm a Tulane Fan, this week.
