@shamymax Boy you guys aren't big on the truth are you?
2009: Orson Charles 23 catches for 374 yards and 3 TDs in 13 games. 3rd in the team in receiving behind 2 strong WRs AJ Green, Tavarres King.

2010: Orson Charles 26 catches for 422 yards and 2 TDs in 13 games. 4th on the team in receiving behind 3 strong WRs AJ Green, Kris Durham, Tavarres King

2011: Orson Charles 45 catches for 574 yards in 13 games. 3rd in the team in receiving behind 2 strong WRs Tavarres King and Malcolm Mitchell. 4th round draft pick.

2012. Arthur Lynch. 24 catches for 431 yards in 14 games. 4th on the team in receiving behind 3 strong WRs Tavarres King, Malcolm Mitchell and Marlon Brown.

2013. Arthur Lynch. 30 catches for 459 yards in 11 games. 3rd on the team in receiving behind 2 strong WRs Chris Conley and Michael Bennett. More receiving yards than Todd Gurley. 5th round draft pick.

2014. Jeb Blazevich. 18 catches for 269 yards in 13 games. 3rd on the team in receiving behind Michael Bennett and Chris Conley. More than Malcolm Mitchell (though only 9 games), Nick Chubb and Sony Michel.

Here's the reality: Orson Charles and Arthur Lynch regularly got open on intermediate and deep routes. Wide open. Lynch actually had 18 yards per catch in 2012. So why doesn't Gunner Stockton throw the ball to Oscar Delp and Lawson Luckie? The same reason why Carson Beck, who just beat Ole Miss and is headed to the title game, didn't. Unlike Charles, Lynch, Bowers and Washington, Delp and Luckie are rarely open. This should not surprise you. Why? Because after Bowers and Washington, the only other TE to ever distinguish himself at UGA under Kirby Smart was Isaac Nauta. No other Smart TE has reached 350 yards. Or has been one of UGA's leading WRs in a year when the WRs was actually good.

Smart is a much better recruiter at OT, DT and LB than Richt. (Their OG and DB recruiting are about the same.) But Richt was a much better RB, WR, TE and QB recruiter than Smart. Smart hasn't had a WR hit 850 yards. Richt had UGA's only 1000 yard WR in history in 2002 plus 4 to hit 900 yards (Tavarres King, AJ Green, Mohammed Massaqoui) with 2 guys doing so in the same season in 2008, and others were multiple guys had 700-800 yards. The only time Smart has had anything like that was 2022 when Bowers had 942 yards and McConkey had 762. And this is with Smart's teams playing 14-15 games a year, not 11-13 like Richt's teams did. If Richt's teams played as many games as Smart's do now because Tennessee, Florida, South Carolina and Auburn not being anywhere near as good as they were in the Richt era and are now basically 4 guaranteed wins that has allowed Smart to go to the SECCG 8 out of 10 years, plus the extra playoff games, then of course Green, King, Malcolm Mitchell etc joins Edwards in the 1000 yard club.

Oh yeah. Charles and Lynch weren't even the only good TEs to play for Richt. No, Leonard Pope (482 and 541 yards in 12 game seasons, 3rd round pick) was better. Martrez Milner (291 yards at 21 yards a catch and 425 yards, 4th round pick) was as good. And there was also NFL Hall of Famer Ben Watson. The TEs under Richt weren't 240 lb. guys like Delp and Luckie either. They were 255+ meaning that they could actually run and pass block and were useful in goal line situations. If Lawson and Delp were as good as Charles, Lynch, Pope, Milner or Watson, not only is UGA still playing right now but they likely win either the 2023 or 2024 national titles.

10 years of Smartball means that UGA fans have forgotten what good players on offense look like. Richt had at least 4 QBs better than Stockton (David Greene, DJ Shockley, Matt Stafford, Aaron Murray) plus a bunch of tailbacks better than anyone that UGA has had in years (Musa Smith, Verron Haynes, Knowshon Moreno, Todd Gurley, Nick Chubb, Sony Michel, Isaiah Crowell). Richt regularly played RBs that were 220 - 235 lbs that were faster and quicker than the barely 200 lb. guys that Smart (save Zamir White and Kendall Milton) generally plays. In 15 years of Mark Richt, there were only 2-3 years where UGA had sub-SEC caliber WRs who couldn't get open downfield, get yards after the catch or even hang onto the football. Instead, this is Smart's second year in a row where a low profile guy from the portal led UGA in catches by a good margin (Dom Lovett in 2024, Zachariah Branch this year). If Smart were relying on his WR recruits like Richt did, UGA would have had no chance in 2019 (Cager and Robertson were #2 and #3 in receiving to go with true freshman Pickens), 2023 (Lovett was vital because Bowers and McConkey missed so many games) and 2024.

UGA has had subpar offenses in 7 of 10 years under Smart and under 4 different coordinators (Chaney, Coley, Bobo and yes Monken in 2020 which was the only year since Smart's first when they didn't win the SEC East). Yet people blame the coordinators, the WR and OL coaches, the QBs, the portal, NIL and everything except the one consistent variable who has been here the whole time. Now I don't blame Smart for 2016: his first year. But he doesn't get credit for the great offense in 2017 either as Chubb, Michel and Wims (the #1 RB, #2 RB and #3 WRs of the Smart era) were Richt guys.

Great point on those 4 QBs Richt had. They would be awesome to have now!

You make good points some times. And reasonable. But why do you feel the need to talk Down to people as if your the Only one that knows football ? If you would stop doing that I think you’d be much better accepted here. Most people don’t like to be talked down to. Just something for you to ponder……..

If he's got a motor and good scheme, he's big enough. (David Pollack was a shade smaller.) Go Dawgs!

You could have stopped at the number one point that cost UGa further runs in the last three playoffs, and yes, I say last 3 even though Bowers was on the team 3 years ago. He was not 100% in the playoffs if you may recall…

"Unlike Charles, Lynch, Bowers and Washington, Delp and Luckie are rarely open."

This is a home run statement. Oh btw, Merriam Webster called, they want the rest of their words back…jk ( : You made some nice points, cheers mate.
