“The other stipulation is that Notre Dame is guaranteed a spot in the 12-team field if it finishes in the Top 12 of the rankings”

Baylor left out of national championship game because they didn’t have a conference championship game in ‘14.

Thinks ND should be disqualified, quit or allowed to make up all rules for everyone else if they can’t play like everyone else.

A shame they can’t play like everyone’s rules..,,but I blame the ones allowing it more. All about the green.

The Big Ten wants 24 teams, meaning it definately thinks 12 isn’t enough, but it refuses to go to 16 because there is no promise to go to 24 later? What kind of logic is that? I thought they are supose to be smart.

Although it is not fair, the Notre Dame Agreement (MOU) was actually signed by all conferences back in 2024. So this isn't something new. It's always been sitting on the back burner. The CFP never officially announced these changes because the office was waiting on a 2026 format decision. That took much longer than expected.

All I know is wherever the Dawgs land in the '26 playoffs, this trend simply cannot continue:

In the three seasons since Georgia’s last national title, 11 programs have been in the CFP semifinals. Georgia is not one of those 11.

Dawgs have a very manageable schedule in '26, are already favored to win the SEC, and don't play Texas, LSU, or A&M. I like our chances with this roster.

    GO DAWGS!!

P.S. BTW, Ohio State finally has a very tough schedule next season playing (6) Top 25 teams as ranked in several of the way-too-early 2026 Top 25. Heck, maybe they won't even make the playoffs!

you seem to wear that like a badge of honor…but gotta axe again - of those 11 teams in 3 years time, who has repeated, Texas??

Also, who has won more games in the past 5 years & who has won more national championships the past 5 years??

Some things never change, ND got their way when I was a kid in the 60's and still get preferential treatment 55+ years later..quit taking the easy way out, and join the ACC like the majority of other ND athletic teams that already play ACC schedules..or join ANY conference for that matter..

They should have made a stipulation that Notre Dame has to join a conference, all they do is line their schedule with weak opponents, ensuring they will be healthy, and ranked #12, or above, why are they treated above every other college team, must be because they're a Catholic college, and ESPN wants all those Catholic's for viewership.$$$$

@Eastmandawg…my quote has nothing to do with repeat Champions. It's simply the fact that the Dawgs haven't made it to even the Semi-Finals since their last Natty going on 4 seasons ago. And really, the SEC hasn't been in the Championship game in 3 seasons now.

The landscape has changed. The SEC is no longer dominant. Dawgs have fallen behind. That needs to change. That's my message, and you can call it a badge of honor or whatever, but the facts speak for themselves. It's worth repeating. This game is all about what have you done lately, not 3+ years ago. SEC conference Bowl record this season: 2-7.

Would anyone back in 2022 or 2023 ever imagined that out of (11) different programs over the next 3 seasons that was in the CFP Semi-Finals, not one of them was going to be Georgia??? Or no SEC team even in the CFP Final for the next 3 seasons?

    Think about that.

Anyone think Kirby is satisfied with our results?

    You're naive if you do.

    I'm definitely not satisfied.

OK so once again ND pouts and gets their way. They should have stipulated that ND Must play a Top 15 team in lieu of not having to play a conference championship !!

I started to say a top 25 team but it needs to be a little closer to what the other teams face in conference championships ( usually) in terms of competition. Right is Always right. Wrong is Always wrong. The powers that are, are trying to help guarantee ND a National Title !!

Notre Dame should be ashamed of themselves, but they're not.

    Go, Dawgs!

“This will give the Management Committee additional time to review the 12-team format, so they can better assess the need for potential change.”

Because they have only had 2 years to frgn study it under the current format so far, clearly the committee lawyers haven't r a p e d enough money out of the figure it out coffers…oh btw they've had enough time to figure out that Notre Dame needs a special exemption for not being a part of a conference and not having to deal with a conference championship game, I blame Bama's pssssspoor performance on that one…but figure out that 16 teams might be an answer…what a c r o c k…

If I represented Notre Dame, I would be embarrassed to publish that schedule. They should be 12-0. Just pencil them in for a bye and let them hibernate until then. Their schedule is a joke.

@MontanaDawg Look at the facts. In 2023 UGA dropped from 1st to 5th and out of the playoffs in a 4 team field. Something I think was done by design. In 2024, UGA started a first time starter because their regular QB got hurt and lost. Plus the O line was average. In 2025 UGA did not play for a month and was not the same team and Stockton was not very good on the night. What I am trying to say is UGA is not in a bad position and I give Kirby some grace because I like the kind of program he is running. I don't want UGA to turn into NFL lite. It will be a lot harder on Kirby but since 2016, he has raised the standard at UGA in the hopes of the fans not just winning that counts. When we played the final in 2017 and lost, I was gutted because I thought we would never get there again. Kirby proved that wrong. A team cannot win every year and as long as Kirby stays true to his vision, I will stick by him. I remember the lean years at UGA losing to Florida. I use to hate Spurrier. Now that is not to say Kirby is not above criticizism, he can be stubborn at times and he got to get the QB right every year. For instance I did not think Stockton was that good this year. He was at times like at the Vols or against Ole Miss the first time, but he had some below par games. I thought Stockton needs competition and Kirby has his starting QB for next year even though he won't say it and that can be a problem if Stockton don't improve.

    "Naive"??…au contraire, my friend.

    I read the "semi-final" part (2X), I simply asked:

1)"of those 11 teams in 3 years' time, who has repeated, Texas??"

    And also simply asked:

    2) "who has won more games in the past 5 years & who has won more national championships the past 5 years??

Two separate questions, 3 times now that it was asked. I didn't think they were hard questions. But I understand if you choose not to answer them.
