Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

it’s also a holiday today
Didn't near about Maurice Smith. Did note that the RB Spell article has been replaced about an "intriguing" LB coach hire (potentially).
Mardi Gras is our excuse down here…..
Read where he was hired as an analyst not DB coach…..
yep - you’re right. Read the headline wrong and not the full article…thanks:
“Georgia hires former Bulldogs defensive back Maurice Smith as defensive analyst”Anyone else can't stand to watch ESPN and their constant parade of "personalities". What the heck happened to sports on that network. Even coverage of games is a mix of actual sports and inane commentary from the "talent". I know it's profit driven and I don't begrudge a good living for anyone, but I just can't watch anymore.
That's my gripe and solution too brother; however, that's the new normal in sports announcing apparently. And AI? 😎
I've often wondered if I hate ESPN so much because of the fact that I am getting old and becoming one of those "GET OFF MY LAWN!" sort of guys…though 54 isn't exactly old. I can not stand what they have become with their personalities rather than just going over the games that occured. It is now become like TMZ and it is sad. It has cut much of my love for sports down.
I feel ya, bro!!!
you’re not in the target demo any longer. And the culture has changed. Pre-internet and social media you HAD to watch SC if you wanted to know scores and see highlights. Now with a computer in your pocket you can see it whenever you want and usually right away. So they have to do all these talking head shows which drive engagement.
which drive engagement.
And, in my case, disengagement!
Man I can remember those days. Reading the sports page and watching SportsCenter.
Like you mention they didn't change because they wanted to change. They would love to still be where everyone had to go for information. They changed because they had to change.
Maybe, but they've jumped the shark.
Go, Dawgs!
When the media went from news anchors, to news actors, the whole process changed overnight. Nothing is the same as it used to, and I predict that trend will continue.
the nation has jumped the shark
