looks like we are continuing that pipeline of great kickers to the Vikings! Go Dawgs!
Thorson is a Viking. How fitting.
But man, if he can't get drafted, I guess the NFL just doesn't really value punters.
I hope the reason Thorsen didn't get drafted was because he got injured at the end of the season. Dude has a CANNON for a leg.
Way to go Brett !! Proud of and for you !!
Never having held for place kickers which is pretty much non negotiable for NFL punters and not being able to KO or serve as an emergency kicker are probable reasons for the snub.
A great punter is a valuable asset to any team. Really surprised he didn't get drafted. Best of luck to you, Brett!
Best punter in the nation not drafted. A little weird.
I hate it...that he has to play in frigid Minnesota. From the warm and cuddly Australian weather...to the moderately warm climate of Georgia.…...
Only to land in ice country, where the footballs feel as hard as bricks and, seem to weigh as much. Lol...he should go South....or...let a little air out of the ball, before he kicks. Worked for New England. Lmao
Minnesota has an indoor stadium. So does Detroit. There’s 10 of his 17 games right there. I think he can survive.
I was just kidding. But...I bet they still practice outside. Kickers can practice at home....and, usually do. Especially, after the "COVID work-from-home" standard took the country by storm. Lol
Imo....kicking a frozen football...still bites the big one, no matter where it's done. Lol
Blair Walsh would surely know
Man...I had forgotten about Walsh. Helluva a kicker. An unfortunate Senior Season cost him the Groza Award...imo. But....he made all but one extra point, in something like 180-190 attempts.
Definitely a DAWG! He must've loved it in Minnesota. Lol
probably did until he missed that game winning kick against Seattle
Minnesota has always had bad luck with the important, "winning kick" attempts. Lol...I was at sea at the time...but, I remember Minnesota missing a potential "winning field goal" vs Atlanta in '99 to put the Falcons in the SB. Their kicker hadn't missed all season...or, something to that effect.
I will say...after reading up on him a little bit....he made a 56 yard FG in his Sr Season. Which, I think at the time, was a UGA record.
The guy that won the award that year....deserved it.
he suffered from a similar problem Rodrigo did…could hit all the ones he should. But when you had to have it…he was gonna shank it.
