Time to right the ship tomorrow as they say
Ship righted as Braves win, beat the Red Sox! Michael Harris 4 for 4 with HR, 2B & 3 RBI, Olson 2 run HR & Riley 3B, plus Acuna a run scoring hit & Dom a pinch hit RBI. Bats come alive in Boston!
Indeed!! OTOH, Strider still throwing HR pitches and then shutting the opposition down. Don't know what's up with that, but the offense picked him up this time. Good road win, another come from behind victory.
Shaky night for Iglesias but he hung in there after he gave up two runs and put the winning run on base. Kinda scary to watch.
Braves bounce back with 10 to 2 shellacking of the Red Sox in Fenway Park! Another series win and Acuna with the grand slam being the major blow!
Harris & Albies also added homers in support of Chris Sale winning his 8th game.
Harris is playing great baseball. Bunt hit gets the big rally going in the 6th and then he shows you the power later.
Team is streakier offensively without Baldwin in there every day. No offense coming from the C position now which creates holes at the bottom of the lineup.
Yaz is playing better ball worked a nice walk before the Acuna GS. Still not getting much from Riley.
Modern game with the free base runner in xtra innings games dont go long any more. So if you have a versatile team like the Braves you can really sub freely in the game. Weiss does to the Braves benefit. Bring in a RH to pitch to White in the 6th. He is going to switch to Yaz every time. Yaz rewards his manager by working a tough walk breaking the tie.
That is good managing. Not afraid to make a move early with a rally brewing and putting guys in position to succeed.
Riley had triple in first game of series that would have been a homer (green monster triple off the top of the monster) anywhere else. Just hasn't got on his proverbial hot streak yet.
To me, Riley just looks lost at the plate. His swing seems late to me and it doesn't seem like he's seeing pitches very well. But heck, I'm just a retired cross country coach. What I don't know about hitting would fill an encyclopedia.
Weiss [freely subs] to the Braves benefit. Bring in a RH to pitch to White in the 6th. He is going to switch to Yaz every time. Yaz rewards his manager by working a tough walk breaking the tie.
This was the play/managerial decision of the game, right there!!
Next batter Acuna hits his third homer of the year…. a Grand Slam over the green monster!!
Weiss is at the top of his game right now and has immense backing from Anthopolis and all his staff!!
Nice win in Cincy tonight. Holmes didn't last 5 so no win for him. The youngster Fuentes gets the win with 1.1 innings of scoreless relief. Bravos got 13 hits - 3 apiece from Harris and Dom Smith. Good all around team win.
40 wins after tonight! First in major leagues to accomplish that feat!
Book’em Walt!
First time in franchise history that the Braves have tallied 40 wins before the season turns to the month of June!
Acuna on fire! First time in his career that he had 2 homers and 2 stolen bases in the same game!
Just unbelievable!
oh, I just heard on the Braves post game show, that Acuna is the first player in modern baseball history to have four homers, four stolen bases and four walks in a four game span! I actually may have heard it wrong….it may have been over a three game span!
Yep, it was a three game span!
Hard to believe that he only had two homers in the first 56 games of the season! Primed to carry this team!
Just dam.n!
Good to see Ronnie heating up. Now, if riley, who sat out tonight's game (he has to get his confidence back) can get going a bit we'll be locked and loaded. Of course, Drake should also be back soon so there is more firepower on the way back. Plus good contribution (again) from Yaz. Pretty dang good team. Get out the brooms tomorrow.
Get out the brooms tomorrow.
Can you believe that with this record, the Braves have had only two series sweeps this season!?
Following the Bobby Cox mantra of “win the series, baby” is panning out for these Braves!
Outstanding!
Consistency of the bats is the reason for so few sweeps so far.
I don't think it's realistic to think we always sweep a series. Sometimes the opponent's pitcher throws a good game - there are good pitchers on other teams and we score only 2,1, or zero runs. Hitting by its very nature inconsistent. A .350 hitter makes about 650 outs every 1000 at bats. Impossible to predict who will get the hits or when. Our winning % is .66779 (40 wins out of 59 games) and projects out to 109 wins, if we keep winning like we are. That is a very rare # of wins in a season - not sure how often that has been done since MLB switched from the 154 game schedule. In all honesty I don't think the Braves or any team will keep winning 2 out of every three games. Just too hard to keep that up over 5-6 months.
Does good pitching beat good hitting or is the other way around, good hitting beats good pitching. Interesting question.
