Too bad about Phelps because MSU is no joke. Lucky for us O'Shaughnessy is a good hr hitter as well.
I think we have the toughest of all the super regionals with MSU. Will be a great series, fingers crossed.
Go Dawgs!
I'll admit ive jumped on the bandwagon. Hadn't watched a game all year until Liberty Sunday. Hard for me to get into College Ball during the regular season.
Didnt think Phelps did enough to get ejected after the 2 run homer. If Georgia is up 8 to nothing yeah maybe. Me personally I would've put my head down and gotten back to my teammates to celebrate. But if Im the ump I would've given the kid some leeway there too considering the situation.
Hasn't the Super Regional been a sticking point for this team in the past? As @BigDawg888 mentions MSU will be a better opponent than the three teams in the regional.
Hope the games are on TV id like to see if this team can shake off past disappointments and make it to Omaha. Who knows maybe you can win some games out there?
UCLA and Tech both go down. That would make Georgia the top seed unless somehow the teams get re seeded before the CWS. Wouldn't think so.
Florida lost too. Auburn fighting for their lives tonight.
While I am thinking about it can anyone who follows College Baseball explain why they start the season so incredibly early? Georgia season opener was Feb 13th.
Does it have something to do with the academic calendar?
If I was marketing College Baseball I would want my season to conclude with a Champion as close to the start of Football as possible. Fan interest in College Athletics is naturally up when the buzz of the season is close. I would want to tap into that.
July and August are fine for playing baseball. Certainly better than February.
I think the goal is to get in a large # of games - seems that has been the case for decades. I think Feb is about the earliest that weather will reasonably allow a season to begin with decent conditions. Northern teams always seemed to come South for the start of their seasons.
Academic calendar, yes, and the MLB draft is in early June. The players drafted that go are already playing short-season A ball in the summer.
I'm fine with a tough super regional, we kind of need it to prepare for Omaha after playing nothing but mid-major schools in the regional.
I'm no fan of stu.pid celebrations, but I've watched Phelps do his homerun dances 50 times over three years. Never a warning, certainly never got tossed. It clearly isn't against the rules to celebrate. Taunting can't be proven either in the moment, certainly not without input from Tre, who would have said he was gesturing at his father above the dugout.
By the way, the Liberty coach was out on the field before Tre was halfway down first base line, first baseman and second basemen yapping at Tre, thinking they knew something they didn't. Nobody even warned on their team. The whole situation was so poorly handled by the umps with the assumptions made.
No appeal process for the one game suspension is b.s. -but I have a feeling this might fire up the dawgs. He.ll Tre's replacement hit one over the scoreboard in his first AB…
One more thing. If they want to change the celebration rules, I'd be in favor of it. Tre will follow the rules, just like he did when they told him he had to wear an undershirt this year…lol…Tre be a gamechanger…
There you go that has to be it. Guys have to get the season over and move into the draft etc.
Saturday 11 AM Eastern and Sunday Noon Eastern lots of Dawgs complaining about the times but don’t matter State ain't winning 2 in Athens. Key is jumping on the State starters early, continue to play loose and have fun and free Tre @ncaabaseball #FreeTre
