You know, I hate to be Negative Nanny all the time, but it is me or what that our super high rated TE's just disappear in our offense?

A valid point. Hope to see a lot of 13 personnel this year.

Pretty excited about Barbour and Prothro in the flex TE/WR with Elyss and Luckie. Taylor and Canion should have a lot of opportunities with teams crowding the line of scrimmage. That should give us some man to man opportunities and if Taylor can live up to his star rating maybe a big year.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say

    Humphries with 6 tds

    Taylor with 4 tds

Prothro with 8 tds - This guy is going to surprise people

    Canion with 6 tds

    Luckie with 4 tds

    Elyss with 3 tds

    Reddell with 2 tds

    Barbour with 2 tds

Gunner doesn’t seem to like throwing over the middle where a lot of these TEs do their work.

Good point and they have talked about working on that shortcoming. Lets hope when the SEC games start they will indeed try to make an improvement.

if Talyn Taylor can emerge I think that’ll help too. Ultimately Gunner has to see it coming open and make the throw. Those are huge targets and a QBs best friend.

Cool predictions and they look realistic. Prothro is for sure the wild card here that reminds me of that other TE we had that was so good at getting open. I forget his name, maybe Bowman or Batman. Yes, his first name was Brock!

Luckie had 15 catches because they only threw to him 16 times.

We have GOT to make better use of our Tight Ends as receiving weapons.

@Kasey @RedUga4Ever I agree with you guys about Gunner needing to throw the ball over the middle more. But one thing about Gunner he’s gonna do his best to execute what ever Coach MB tells him. So Coach needs to cut back on some of those screen passes and make the call to throw it over the middle. Good result or bad result Gunner will Try to execute it. With the TEs we have now I believe the results will be Good more often than bad. Just mho. Go Dawgs !!

I’m sure Gunner has the freedom to check the defense and switch up the reads. But I agree they need to let him play a little free and let loose. Hope it’s not too late for that now.

First you need a QB that can see the whole field and throw to any/all receivers.

Last year GS was a QB who threw to the open receiver. Outside of the occasional "bomb" , GS doesn't throw to a spot. At least not downfield. He sees an open receiver and throws to him. It will be interesting to see if he develops a timing passing game in his 2nd season starting.

Second you need an OC that will call plays to throw to the TE's. I wonder if CMB's excessive use of the dive plays for the rb's isn't taking opportunities away from the TE's.

Lastly, shorter QB's have more difficulty completing passes over the middle past the DL. Because of that I would not expect a huge leap in passing proficiency, over the middle to the TE's, this seasin.

Do not overlook Reddell, it may be his breakout year. Williams may be the best of them all this season.

I would say a nice problem to have if I could trust Bobo to emphasize the TE's. I do not put close to half of the lack of TE production last year on Gunner, but on Bobo. Say what you want but Bobo can make the TE's the focal point of the offense if he wants and Gunner will follow that plan. Plain and simple. And I like Bobo, a lot. But not in this one area.

You have great talent in positions of mismatches? I would have a game plan all season, especially in the biggest games, with them as the primary focus and keep going to them until the opposing defense is consistently all over it. And then have an answer ready to burn them as soon as they adjust or if they were ready for it early. Or vice versa. lull them into focusing on something else early then pour on the TE's when you have them where you want them. Mix it up.

I know there are a lot of options depending on the opponent on how to attack, but TE's should ALWAYS be plan A or B this year. And if plan B, then mixed in with Plan A. Make it an unstoppable well oiled unstoppable machine and do it until they stop it! At least IMO

Stetson was short too but he didn't have much trouble getting Brock Bowers the ball. Now BB was of course a freak of nature and he could run after the catch like nobodies' business, something I haven't really seen that mcuh of since BB. But the same short QB thing was there. SB would throw to spots though. But alot of BB's receptions were 7-8 yarders that he broke open. Definitely a fall off from TM to MB as far as TE usage.

I want to see 14 personnel in big games. With our variety of tight ends, we could run and pass with devastating effect.

honestly could still run 13 and have Elyiss or Prothro as a WR. But I like using 14 in the low red area
