There must be some outstanding college catchers if Jackson is rated as "third best". Who had better numbers than Daniel Jackson?
He was projected at 27. Wonder why he fell off? Anyway, super congrats Daniel and you made us all proud!
I don't get it. Happy for DJ to be drafted but why not higher? He won all 3 awards and had clutch ability as well. Why was he the #3 catcher drafted?
Jackson had an amazing year but this was a out of no where season! .240 average last year 2-1 k to walk ratio, not Golden Spikes stats or any indicators of the season he had. Lackey has hit .347, .397 last 2 years and more walks than k's this year and reportedly better defense. To me Jackson would be better served going the Craig Biggio route and moving to 2nd, and making use of his speed and more longevity. That's why Jackson went where he did, had hit .350 last year and not .240 he would have been a top 10 pick.
All the high draftees didn't even make it to Omaha. Final 4 teams in Omaha were overlooked on the first round of the draft.

Agree with many of my fellow Dawgs here. Daniel Jackson third best catcher ? I don’t understand that as he had very good defensive stats along with his great batting and stealing bases !
You’d think Zaxby’s could pay Dan, Joey and Rylan the MLB equivalent of 4.5M in KicknChickn sammiches to convince these great players to run it back in Athens another year. We were so close to Diamond glory!
As far as I'm concerned....the Dawgs garnered all sorts of "Glory" last year.
Lol....I guess you could say that I'm one of those fans that place more value on the way you play....and, not so much, on the Big Title.
Imo.…it takes "Luck" to win a title...unless you're the '27 Yankess, of course....Lol. And, even then...
I thought the Dawgs played like Champions this year. And that's all I really care to see.
But....yeah. I'd still like to see em win at least one, before I die. Lol...God willing.
