Most of the top pitching prospects are still very young. Maddux, Glavine and Smoltz all had rocky times when the broke into the league. It's too early to judge Folty and Newcomb. We still have 3 or 4 guys in our minor league system as well. Even so if we just had an average closer we'd have near the best record in MLB… -

For me: Game 1 - Kuechel Game 2 - Folty Game 3 - Soroka Game 4 - Fried, but on a short leash. Game 5 - Kuechel/ Johnny Whole Staff Teheran has experience but he's looked rough to me down the stretch. Too many misses over the heart of the plate. Too many long balls. He's a 1-2 inning match-up bullpen guy come playoffs for… -

Tomorrow Mike Soroka faces an old compadre Anabel Sanchez. I like our chances in this one. Soroka has been dominant on the road with a 1.19 ERA while going 6.0. Sanchez has a 3.40 ERA at home, advantage good guys. I hadn't realized how much better Soroka has been on the road vs at home where he is 4-2 and his ERA is 4.08. -

UGA4life. NL managers earn their pay when that scenario comes up in say the 5th inning in a tied game when his starter is dealing and the pen is overtaxed. AL managers should make 50 cents on the dollar of what NL managers are paid. Even better, make the DH pay half the opposing manager's game pay, they only do 1/4 of what… -

Dbrown7494, I agree on trying to re-sign Donaldson on a 3 yr deal. Riley has been pretty good in left field and his bat is really good. Imagine this postseason our starting pitchers being: Game 1 - Zach Grienke, Game 2 - Trevor Bauer, Game 3 - Dallas Keuchel, Game 4 - Mike Soroka. If we could swing that I would like our… -
Re: Braves Ongoing Season Comments Thread..
That's a good way to look at it. The other way is that we still play 7 times head to head. If they took all 7, we'd need to make up one game in the standings across the remaining 23 (ATL) / 25 (WAS) games. If they took 4 of 7, they'd need to make up five games elsewhere. If we took 5 of 7, they'd need to make up nine games… -
Re: Braves Ongoing Season Comments Thread..
His velocity was as good as ever. He seemed much calmer. Except for one inning, no excessive # of pitches in an inning and zero walks. He would give us 3/5 of a rotation. Julio and Gausman give us 1/2 a starter each for a total of 4/5 of a rotation. Not bad. The hitters are looking good...really good. Question. Does this… -
Re: Braves Ongoing Season Comments Thread..
Disagree we would only use 4 relievers in playoffs. We will use more than we normally would and probably have 7-8 guys we use (counting a couple current starters who won’t end up being playoff starters).Think we may using 3-4 starters and have them all on super short leashes. First sign of issues during the second time… -
Re: Braves Ongoing Season Comments Thread..
If they give up 4 over 5-6 innings they were left in the game too long. Honestly, smart people would say a guy should not pitch third time through the lineup unless he is really in control. I’m pulling people after 4-5 innings as a rule, if I leave them in more than that it will have to be because they are throwing really… -

I didn’t like that the closer threw high and tight to Acuña 2 times. I understand the first one, he was upset about Acuña’s homerun trot in game 1, but on ball 4 he made it tighter, and then wanted to run his mouth as Acuña walked to first. Good for Acuña that he just walked down to first and kept his mouth shut. But talk…
