Only use "Buck" knives. Great American company and I love their "mission statement. It's worth a google.
It's contained in a holster! 😂
As to the OP's question re: "Is that bone or stag?" It is hard to tell from the picture. If it is grooved then I would guess stag but if it is smooth then it looks like it might be horn that has been torched. You might try sending the picture to Case and asking them.
Nice collection.
I say stag
@Bankwalker you can determine handle material by the tang stamp (code on the handle end of the blade). If the first character is a 6 it is bone. If it’s a 5, it is stag. It looks like jigged bone to me.
Great thread @Bankwalker . I carry one every day. Have two that I switch out every so often, and some that I have as collector knifes. I've sold quit a few vintage ones on eBay. I'm not big into the collecting thing, but I have studied enough to keep my eye out for certain ones.
I to agree, this is a great thread for this time of year. Can't count the number of knives I've owned through the years, but my prized Case that I got from my Dad is now with with my oldest son in Afghanistan. He'll be home in a few months and and of course it will be his to hand down one day.
Pretty much what I have left. I sold 6 Coke novelty advertising pocket knifes a few weeks ago.
The top right is my current everyday carry....
The wife and I went to Switzerland in 2010 or so. I brought back the new legit version for my nephew and it was a blackish color. The old school red we all knew as kids wasnt available amy more. All of the accessories but more “beafcake”
6.5254, which the internet tells me is bone stag trapper 4” closed. Thanks for the tip!
@loxahatcheedawg very pretty group of knives. How did you get in to K.R. Johnson knives? Never heard of them before now but those are gorgeous.
@PlayHurt Love the reference to “watch pocket of my levi’s”.
That is truly “old school”. I wonder where the cutoff age is for people who know the purpose for which that little slit was actually intended?
Nice birdshot knife. I’d like to have one of those. Any idea of the age?
I have a sxs shotgun passion and shot quail yesterday. I dont consider my knife collection to actually be a “collection”. SxS shotguns, different story.
Twice since I’ve moved to Australia, I’ve used my Case Sodbuster to cut an apple in public, only to be greeted with shrieks, queries about the “need” for knives (seriously?), and a threat to call the police. Yep, Aussies are a real tough bunch. Rugged as the landscape itself. Legendary, even.
Some what young but as you appreciated the reference
I say that all the time! As a teacher, I say it to other teachers...therefore I usually say TWSS. They get it.
Sounds like a good intro for a new Shotgun Discussion. SXS, OU, Auto or Pump?
