Very similar. I will check it out. Thanks for the info!
Clear that it was a Buck. Just saying there are guys who customize things and gave an example. Sounds like you are on the scent now. That 531 is a nice looking blade.
Been a case guy my whole life. But just recently got a Benchmade Mini Barrage to carry and I LOVE it.
The more I look at it.....the more I am thinking this is the one. Thanks for the help!!
Glad I could help. I do some selling on eBay of various things, most which are vintage items. Some of the times I have no clue what they are because the items were given to me from estates. I do a lot of research to figure them out and place a value on them, so I actually find the research fun and interesting. Took me a little while to figure this one out lol!
Yes, a Laguiole knife with a Brazillian palissander wood handle. The only difference is that I don't have brass but silver.
Whoa. Nice! Whats the closed length and blade length? Is that blade thin enough to fillet a fish such as a trout?
The Sebenza is the knife that got me into knives ha
It is now the only folder I own and the only manufactured knife I own. It is my EDC but my kitchen knives, my skinning knife, and all knives I use as gifts (which is frequently) come from a guy who custom makes everything. No CDC, no waterjet, etc. Everything he does himself. I love his work but he does not make folders, fixed only. From camping to kitchen, he is the man. But my Sebenza will always be my favorite because it was my first high quality knife. It will outlive me, easily.
Thx @Bankwalker - Was a gift from my wife. Closed length is 14cm, blade length is right at 11cm. I think I could filet a trout or bass though I haven't tried to. I also have a different model, one I bought myself, which is a little smaller, 12cm, blade length at around 9cm, but I usually carry the other since it was from my wife. They feel really good in the hand.
Very nice knives you have there Kelly. Just a few things to point out for anyone interested in buying a knife like this and I'm sure Kelly would agree. The term "Laguiole" is a reference to the style of the knife. This style is associate to a few cutleries in a few regions of France. There are a lot of knockoffs out there made in various countries that sell for very low prices. If you want the best quality and brand, be sure that it was made in France by a reputable Cutler. Just my 2 cents..
Absolutely, @ghostofuga1 - these are made here in France, strictly. DO NOT buy one off of the Internet unless you know the seller is reputable. They can be very expensive in some cases. BTW - is anyone else not getting notifications since they changed the board? The only time I get them is when I begin a thread now.
When I do carry a pocketknife, it is the one I received as a groomsman gift back in 1989 -- 30 years ago.
I have used this baby for everything so there's some wear and tear. My beloved Swiss Army knife:
those dang toothpicks have a way of walking off
Why would anyone not carry a pocket knife?
Mine is usually a small knife which clips on to my keys, but it's sharp and strong and gets plenty of opportunities to help out. Very useful and handy tool the pocket knife.
If we keep going people are going to freak out over a fork.
Go, Dawgs!
