Humorous song writers/musicians

Who has a song that you like because of the humor in the song lyrics? Lately Ive been having Alexa tee up Luke Combs “When it rains, it pours”. The “helluva redneck roll” he went on when she left cheers me up every time I hear it. Wish I had a playlist of similar songs.

I'm Goin Straight To Hell by Driven N Cryin.

Not only is it uniquely humorous, it is oddly beautiful.

Seeing pretty women singing along to the lyrics in concert was weird and creepy though.

I saw them a couple years ago at Chastain for a benefit concert by Ed Roland of Collective Soul. They opened. It had been years since I had seen them play. Kevin Kinney was in scary bad physical condition. I kept thinking he looked like Fat Basturd from Austin Powers.

LMAO @Kasey that dude is filthy

Bank. It makes me wonder if there was a bit of autobiography in Kinney's lyrics.

For me, I love Lit's "My Own Worst Enemy".

Since I fancy myself a bit of a Weird Al amateur scholar (amateur bc I have no actual schooling for it, scholar bc I'm a little too nerdy-qualified) I'm gonna give you fine folks some funny songs to go on. If I can make one convert I'll feel accomplished...

    "Frank's 2000" TV"--REM sounding tune

"I Remember Larry"--Elvis Costello sounding tune

"One More Minute"--60's style breakup ballad

    "Good Ol' Days"--James Taylor spoof

"Mr. Popeil"--B-52's sounding tune making fun of Ron Popeil

    "Trigger Happy"--Beach Boys/surf rock tune

    "Good Enough for Now"--country song

If you get thru all those and want more, let me know

Humorous for me would be Stephen Lynch, be forewarned, he pulls no punches.

Cory430. Drivin N Cryin's Honeysuckle Blue is a first rate southern rock ballad.

Also I submit to you the last verse of David Allen Coe's You Never Even Called Me By My Name.

''I was drunk the night that Mom got out of prison.

So I went to pick her up in the rain.

But before I could get to the station in my pickup truck.

She got runned over by a dammed old train.''

    Tim Wilson: 100 things

Ray Stevens: my favorite is “Mississippi squirrel revival” but I love everything he has

i feel like you can not say you grew up in Georgia if you didn’t have a Ray Stevens VHS

And turned it off when “everything isn’t beautiful” played

Not a singer, but it would be a shame to not mention Jerry Clower since he is in the Grand Ol Opry. Tim Hawkins is a christian comedian who has had some funny tunes. Ray Stevens is from Alban - the Streak. “Don’t look, Ethel!”

David Allen Cole's "You never even called me by my name". The last verse is an all timer.

So I sometimes hear lyrics for what I want them to say even if I could be wrong.

I like Lou Reed's 'Sweet Jane' because to me it is one of the few artistic celebrations of marital sex in my interpretation. Its not a one liner type humor but here you have a Walk on the Wild Side type artist singing about 'Jack he is a banker, Jane she is a clerk, ...when they come home from work....' something like that. Also the build up is good energy for working out.

Try Heywood Banks for some clean comedy. Big Butter and Interstate 80 Iowa are two of his best. For some not so clean, go with Kevin "Bloody" Wilson. Do not listen to Wilson around kids or at work though. Hey Santa Claus is one of his best.

I bought my middle son the VHS and he and my dad spent hours watching that thing and laughing like hyenas.

Here's one that hasn't been mentioned. Mac Davis It's Hard To Be Humble.

What is the name of the Johnny Cash song about working in an auto factory and stealing parts to build his own car?
