Can’t call him Faulty any more was spot on tonite. If he can only keep up his recent pace, a big boost coming into the playoffs. Whatever they did for him in Gwinnett, I hope he never has to return except to shop in the winter. Meanwhile, the “bringer of rain” continues to produce and junior is warming up a bit.

I would try to sign Donaldson for at least 2 more years, and 3 wouldn't be out of the question.

Folty was excellent tonight. I don't know if management followed our advise and hired a sports phycologist but his demeanor is night and day from what it was earlier in the season. He looks very confident and the results have been terrific of late. The team will have some tough decisions to make come playoff time if all 5 starters keep dealing like they have been recently.

2 would be ideal but i’d Also go 3 to get the 2.

The Braves now have a decent shot at having 3 players with at least 40 HRs this season. Only 3 teams in MLB history have managed it. The 1973 Braves did it and 2 Rookies teams did it when balls were flying out of Coors that would have been popups anywhere else. Acuna and Freeman are on pace to hit 42, Donaldson is on pace to hit 41.

Of course I mean Rockies, not rookies, I don't smell (spell) so good.

Washington lost to the Twins last night and have now lost 6 of their last 8 games. Braves magic number is now 9.

The Braves have 16 games left on the schedule, Washington was 19 left on theirs. If we go 8-8 they'll have to go 19-0 to tie us, that won't happen. So let's say we go just 4-12, they would have to go 15-4 to tie us.

Obviously we're in the driver's seat. I'd like to win 100, which would require going 10-6 the rest of the way.

Bit disappointed to see Fried get shelled early last night, but he settled down after that bad first inning. At this point I'm comfortable with a playoff rotation of Soroka-Keuchel-Teheran and perhaps even a rejuvenated Folty as a 4th starter if it comes to that.

He was high and close to center of the plate on several of those gofer balls. I'm not worried about him though. Truth is he's been very fortunate to have the run support he's gotten this season. If Soroka had the offense he's had he'd have about 18 wins. My guess is the playoff rotation will be Soroka Julio, Keuchel and Fried with Folty being the long reliever that is usually needed in postseason play. I won't be surprised if Keuchel has the best postseason. He has good experience and he's relaxed.

Gun to your head: who's your 4th playoff starter? Anybody trust Folty if we're down 2-1 in the series?

Fried is my 4th man up at this time. If Folty has a couple more very good starts he might jump in there though. One reason I would go with Fried if it's close is Folty has the stuff to fill any role in the pen. If a starter bombs in early innings he could step in. Also Fried has a very calm demeanor, that can serve a starting pitcher well in a playoff atmosphere.

Chris Martin throws an immaculate inning tonight, 5th in Braves history and 4th overall this year. Only a 100 in MLB history. Flowers threw the ball into the stands because he thought they happen every couple of weeks. Speaking of Flowers, his bat made up the runs tonight, but had passed balls galore. That is getting old.

Gotta love Martin's immaculate inning. Kuechel is rolling. The bats are hot. I don't know if we have the horses to beat LA or Houston, but man what a fun year this has been.

You'd think there would have been far more than 100 9 pitch 3 strike out innings in the 150 or so years of MLB. To put it in perspective there have been 302 no hitters in MLB history.

Alright, the last series The Braves lost was a 2 gamer against KC July 23/24. Since then the team has 10 series wins and 3 ties. This series will add either a tie or win depending on the outcome of tomorrow's game.

Keuchel has been great over his past 4 games, hopefully he doesn't use up all the magic before the playoffs.
