National Pancake Day
Who doesn't love pancakes? "Set the table. Mix up the batter. Heat up the griddle. Because the butter is ready to melt and the flapjacks are delicious!
Also known as Johnnycakes, griddle cakes or hotcakes, this batter-made breakfast item dates back more than 30,000 years. In fact, it may be the oldest breakfast food in history.
It became a traditional part of Fat Tuesday (Shrove Tuesday) celebrations when revelers would feast before fasting. They still do! The thin cakes can be rolled and filled with fruit and other fillings. Usually, though, they’re stacked and drizzled with flavored syrup.
Add fruit, nuts or whipped topping, too. While served mostly at breakfast, pancakes along with bacon, ham, hashbrowns and other morning offerings also make a delicious supper. Breakfast for dinner is a nice change of pace in many homes.
Of course, if you can delay your gratification, perhaps we'll be treated to some pancakes in a couple of Saturdays when the Dawgs meet the Vowels.

Unfortunately I do not like pancakes.

Not really. I can eat them as long as the syrup is in a bowl for dipping.
Never seen the dipping thing. I am going to try it.
Things don't get soggy and the sugar content doesn't nearly overpower the waffles. It works for me.
If soggy is the issue, you might try French toast with powdered sugar instead of syrup. That was a thing in my family. (I think because my mom was from New Orleans and it was similar to beignets.)
I love pancakes, my waist doesn't though.
Around 20 years back I used to pick up cinnamon French toast and an egg and cheese croissant at a Burger King on the way to work a couple of times a week. Both were surprisingly good for something from BK.
When a child would eat French toast without powdered sugar or syrup. Usually had a breakfast meat with it. Now, I cannot have it any other way.
Pancakes require syrup/honey and butter. Same for waffles. Don't crave either.
The BK French toast is how I figured out to dip waffles. @AnotherDawg I could try powdered sugar. It would work and be really good. Usually the only time I keep powdered sugar is when I'm baking a cake or making chocolate peanut butter balls at Christmas.
Pancakes are great, the problem I have is 2 or 4 bites and I'm full. Left many a good pancake on the plate so I decided a while back, I didn't won't to keep wasting food....
Local cafe serves’em up as big as the breakfast plate. Darn good can only eat one.
Dang, that’s too bad. I’m always guided by the same principle of not wasting food...so I eat em all...regardless of how many are on the plate. If anyone is ever in Carlton, GA - go to Jerry’s Country Kitchen...biggest pancakes I’ve seen...flop over the edges of the plate.
There's a restaurant in Carlton? I've live in the same county for 29 years and had no clue.
