Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:

    The visceral response to this innocuous article is interesting. Perhaps I missed some sort of backstory, but how is a guy being vocal about his religious beliefs offensive? If the article was about a football player that had found harmony through Buddhist meditation, would you be so upset?

    To the people that share in his belief, he is an inspiration. If you don't share in it, then it really shouldn't matter to you. It shouldn't be any different then seeing something like this:

    The other Aaron Rogers article linked in this one above talks of him questioning his faith. I read it and even though he has renounced the same religion I believe in, I am not offended - Sure, I am disappointed that no one helped him to find some of the answers to the very fair questions he asked, because there are answers to them; but again, I am not offended. ,

    Sometimes I think we forget to be gracious enough to ourselves to ask ourselves why we might be offended by things. Myself included.

    Wait, DawgNation didn't write a story about a QB that has nothing to do with UGA, does not play for a local team, and is not even from the Southeast?!

    But seriously, Aaron Rodgers played for a team that has a similar logo to UGA. Where is the story DawgNation??

    I wouldn’t care on this one either because Aaron Rodgers didn’t play for the dawgs either. The Dalai Lama might’ve played for Wally Butts back in the day but would need to confirm.

    Either way, I really don’t care about Brock Purdy’s beliefs. I’m sure his faith means a lot to him. I’m not a fan of constantly talking about religion in sports. I’m a show, not tell kind of guy.

    I doubt my comment could have honestly been mistaken to imply that I think Dawgnation should have written an article about Aaron Rogers or the Green Bay Packers, so I can only assume you are being sarcastic...

    As defined by Psychology Today: Sarcasm is a thinly veiled attempt to disguise feelings of anger, fear, or hurt. It can be a means of diminishing feelings of vulnerability that may be experienced in the willingness to acknowledge the underlying feelings. When the deliverer of the sarcasm gets angry or defensive at the recipient of it for “taking things too personally” or being “too sensitive,” they are trying to invalidate the other’s feelings and avoid feeling guilty or responsible for causing them pain.

    I found myself feeling extremely offended about lots of things about a year ago. Thankfully I took the time to honestly assess the anger and fear behind it all, and it eventually lead to some peace and healing that I didn't know I needed.

    If you are so offended by someone else's beliefs (or expression of their beliefs), do yourself a favor and honestly ask yourself, "why?" Its not an easy question to answer most of the time.

    Its not okay to force your beliefs on someone else - that is oppression. But it should definitely be okay for people to share their beliefs and let them be know to others around them - shutting that down is also oppression. If you are not interested in them, just carry on as you were. It shouldn't be hard if you are confident in your own beliefs.

    If we could all be a little less offended by what we disagree with, we could be a lot more civil. With the obvious exception being an affinity for the color ORANGE!

    “He” doesn’t not care one bit about sports. The Lord ain’t up in Heaven cheering for The Dawgs or anyone else. Let’s be real.

    My Dad once said something about this and I’ve never forgot it. All the Catholic baseball players that make a cross then kiss their cross necklace before they step in the batters box.

    If they hit a home run was it God who helped make that happen?? NO

    Was God on their side more than the pitcher because they kiss a cross before batting. It’s ridiculous. Another reason why I never could stand Bryce Young cause he did something similar every series he went out on the field.🙄

    I got no problem with taking a knee and prayer before the game or after the game but that cross yielding/kiss point to the sky every series/at bat is a joke. God is not going to help you hit a homer or throw a touchdown because he doesn’t care about sports.
