You are right. We can score a lot of runs but when the post season gets here the opposing pitching will be better and the weather colder. Both lead to closer games and the bullpens importance elevated.
In 2021 Minter Matzek and Will Smith were on an incredible run. Might be leaving someone off the list but they were really good in the 2021 post season.
We need guys to step up like that this year if we are going to win it all.
Some notable achievements following last night's 9-6 win over the Nationals: Acuna hit his 40th homerun and joins exclusive company to steal 40 bases and hit 40 homeruns. Only four others have done it: Soriano, A-Rod, Barry Bonds, and Jose Canseco.
Acuna is the only player to reach the 40-60 club. Forty homeruns and 60 stolen bases. And he has scored 143 runs, the most since Alex Rodriguez did it in 2007.
Riley with 4 rbi's including 2 sf's. He's up to 96 rbi's and with four more would join Acuna, Albies, and Olson to eclipse 100 rbi's.
Magic number for home field advantage throughout the playoffs is down to 4 with a Braves win and a Dodgers loss last night!
Go Braves! Let’s end this thing!
With the playoffs starting week after next. And today's game with the Nationals cancelled, is it possible the game won't get rescheduled?
Double header tomorrow I believe.
Munson, in baseball? /s
Okay, thanks. I didn't see a double header scheduled yet. Maybe they play Monday since both teams are off.
@TxDawg412 You are correct. Mlb.com is reporting that the teams will play a split-admission double header tomorrow.
Bravos have a chance to hit a dozen home runs today.
and Uncle Charlie Morton is out for the NLDS? Geez, the injury bug must have relatives in both Athens and Atlanta.
uh oh
With the Braves win over Chicago last night, along with the Dodgers split of their double header, the magic number for the best record in the NL and home field advantage throughout the playoffs is now 1…..!!
With five games to play!
Go Braves!
Elder struggled for sure, but also had some bad luck. This team just seems to stare down everything this year. Darrius Vines tonight, then I'd like to see Soroka and Wright give Snit something to think about before finishing up with Max and Strider.
Things setting up well for the post season.
Being a glass half-empty kind of guy, I'm worried about our pitching going into the playoffs. Injuries and inconsistency have not boosted my confidence - at all.
I just want to know .... are you watching the games? or doing what you do with the football games? 🤣
I'm consistent if nothing else. I usually watch on MLB. after game is over - if Bravos win. I most often watch while I'm doing some exercise on a rowing machine.
Attaboy.... Never change!
Braves come from behind for the win 7-6 after the Cubs built a 6-0 lead. Tough way for the Cubs to lose. The Braves scored two runs in the bottom of the eighth without the aid of a hit including two wild pitches sandwiched around an Ozuna strikeout allowing Olson to go to third, who had walked.
A strikeout, walk, and stolen base later, Murphy hits a fly ball to right for what seems like the 3rd out. Incredibly, the right fielder Suzuki appears to lose sight of the ball in the lights. The ball falls to the ground allowing Olson and Wall to score and the Braves take the lead and eventual win 7-6.
You can't make this up.
Kinda makes up for that non-"infield fly" against the Cardinals a few years back!
Go Braves!
Not really, Chipper didn't deserve to go out like that, even though he made the error allowing the Cardnoes to take the lead.
