- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

As if the Olympic opening ceremony wasn't embarrassing enough....the flag was upside down!

Some comedian has gotta do a live parody call when the two men fight each other in women’s boxing finals. I’d for sure watch that.
huh?
I don’t believe there was a last supper scene. That was a reference to bacchanalia paying tribute to France’s Roman roots and it’s connection to the Olympic Games
no religion was mocked
And the announcer messed up the country name of North and South Korea. They called the South Korean team DPRK.
I didn't watch it and sounds like I didn't miss much. I have a much bigger sense of puzzlement than outrage , I mean I don't see the connection with drag queens and the Olympics
they just referenced this
No they didn't. Nice spin…
the blue/purple guy is Dionysus and has nothing to do with Christianity. Long tables have been used to convey feasts in lots of classical paintings. It’s not unique to the last supper. This whole thing is people just choosing to be mad over nothing
Yeah, you’re right. I assume it was intended to be an attempt to show the importance of peace and unity between nations.
I grew up Christian and it doesn’t offend me, but I can understand how some might view it as offensive. I don’t think it was intended to be though.
yeah it was supposed to be about the absurdity of violence over celebration. France also practices Laïcité where they just don’t talk about religion at all in public. It’d be really weird for them to be parodying Christianity for the games with that long standing practice
Exactly, and it does make sense to use a Greek god in a celebration of the Olympics. Especially Dionysus, the god of fertility, festivity, ext……. I mean we are attempting to celebrate together and all.
I think the point just missed the mark with many. Different cultures getting together often has unwanted side effects. I don’t think the French meant to belittle anything or any religion. It just happened.
also never underestimate a group of people’s ability to be outraged over literally anything
Thankfully, we have your cool, calm and collected temperment and worldly wisdom to help us navigate the treacherous waters of life here on Dawgnation.
I undertstand the superfiicial resemblance but this wasn'st a mockery of DaVinci's painting or of the Christian faith. It was, however, a mockery of truly talented performeers who could have exectued the plan in a way that would have been clear in what it was inteneded to convey. 😂
