Lol...no joke. And....Go check out the play-by-play for that game as well as the stats....on ESPN's website. Not as dominant as you might think, looking at the score.
Just sayin. The Vols had to run 99 plays plus kicks.…to rack up all that yardage and points.
THAT'S 99 offensive PLAYS. Several short fields and some trash TD's. UGA's gonna tear em a new one,, come Saturday.
this I agree with you on. We are doing comparisons in games from last year?! I get being concerned with the offense, but this is ridiculous. The 23 Vols team beat Austin Peay 30-13. So not that different. Some people need to get a grip.
He won those championships with a different OC also
Yep…..you're right...imo. Last year...is not this year and this year won't be next year but, it will be the year before next. Lol
However....what I DO like about "last year's" Team...is that the core returning leadership from that team, was young and very talented and they bring a good mix of experience and crosstraining...along with the "TP Guys".
And, the crazy thing, is that a good many of those guys will probably be back next year, too.
I may be wrong….but, this team seems more close-knit than last year's team....or the year before for that matter. They seem more focused.
IMO....Kirby is way ahead of where he was over the last few years. Every year,, lately....seems the Dawgs start with problems needing answers & injuries eating up depth. Not this year. For once....they enter the season healthy...and deep, in all the right areas.
Those guys came back hungry....and, you need those guys for leadership continuity & "connection"....imo. Kinda like a starter dough for bread making consistency. Lolol…Kirby's makin some gourmet bread. Makin' ME hungry. Lol
i was talking about the guy trying to bring up the Austin Peay team from last year and Tennessee’s opponent from last year. Nearly irrelevant to this year.
I wasn’t impressed with the offense against AP, but we will see how good this team really is (or isn’t) in Knoxville.
You are spot on. Totally agree. The run game compliments the pass game compliments the run game. That’s how it’s Supposed to be. But with this O Line it just ain’t happening.
O Line is doing an abysmal job at opening holes for the RBs. The vast majority of what they get they get on their own.
Yes Gunner missed some open targets down field. I saw it. But with this O Line letting people charge right up the middle less alone on Gunner’s blind side who can blame him for being squirrely ? And he’s trying to not be sacked not so much for his personal safety as I think he’s shown he has plenty of courage but to not disappoint Coach and his team.
In HS you play that level of competition which is fairly equal all in all with one or two teams breaking away to be the dominant teams. It’s essentially the same in the SEC, one, two, maybe three teams will end up being the dominant teams. Same thing even for each division in the NFL.
The Fact is Gunner set state records in HS. Don’t take my word look it up. He was a star player. You just don’t do those things by accident. So how does he just fall apart at the collegiate level ? Coaching. Coaches are supposed to Coach players up.
He Has the natural abilities. But Gunner was a dual threat QB in HS. That is his natural self. Forcing him to stay in the pocket is going against the grain of who he is. Kirby telling him to Trust His O Line sort of crawls up my neck. Trust THIS O Line ? I can’t help but wonder what Gunner could do with a Real O Line in front of him ?
Some are calling for KS to fire Gunner and bring in Puglisi. If Pugs is truly the better option Right Now then bring him in. I’m all for it. IF he truly is the best option to Win and win Right Now.
But the Truth is he had his first ever collegiate snaps vs Marshall. With This O Line he’d probably end up getting injured. Yes he has all the physical attributes and natural talent. But he is woefully lacking in experience. And trying to get Immediate experience vs SEC teams with This O Line ?? I honestly don’t think it’d be fair to throw Pugs out there. That is unless Gunner gets injured. No KS needs to put Pugs in as soon as possible in games that we have a solid lead. And let him Throw the ball !! Not a bunch of hand offs !!
A Good OC would know and use plays that accentuate Gunner’s strengths and down play his weaknesses. Maybe we’ll see that vs TN.
A good O Line Coach would teach his players techniques to best protect the QB and Demand great performance. Also run blocking. But I’ve not seen that. And injuries are a cop out All teams have injuries. I’m Very concerned that Seals has his job based on friendship rather than what he brings to the table.
I’d dearly Love to have to eat all my criticism. It’d be very tasty. I sure Hope that will happen this Sat. Go Dawgs !!
Gunner is a Leader and a Winner. He leads by example. He runs with "fury"...just like a fullback...or, Tim Tebow. The only difference between Gunner and Tebow....is hype, imo.....And Stockton has a better arm & aim than Tim.
The question is...."How smart is he?". Smart thinks he's pretty Smart.....so, it would be smart to listen to Smart.
I just hope Gunner has that Bennett Switch...that allows him to excel under pressure and focus on "the next play". I.e., poise and pocket presence. It took Bennett a few games to tap into that. It's gonna take Gunner a few games, too....more than likely.
We've heard Kirby talk about the number of reps a player has to get....before he can play "winning football". It's different for each position...and individual, imo.
Gunner probably hasn't hit his number yet.…but, he looks like he's ready to me.
Go Dawgs...."Gun" it, baby!!!
