Through the years Gainesville High School has produced some really great players. A lot of them have had great college and NFL careers, but guess what, hardly any of them ever commit and play for us. Gainesville is only about 35 miles from Athens, but we can never get them. It'll surprise me if Mr. Newkirk commits to the G—I hope he does, but the coaching staff seems to guide them to other schools.

Jeff—what is your definition of "elite"? Herschel Walker is elite, Todd Gurley is elite. Are you sure "elite" is the proper term for a rather smallish 3 star running back rated as the 245th best player in the nation? I think you're bastardizing the term.

Hey @lucydog - I'm using elite because I see an "elite" high school RB far better than his current rankings. The current numbers for Newkirk are flawed and do not reflect what he's shown since his move to GVL. He's a top 10 to Top 15 RB prospect for his class now. Easy. I'm fine with categorizing a high school RB among the Top 10 backs in America as elite and won't worry about overselling it.

As far as your scale goes, here's what I believe as far as their time in college goes:

    GOAT: Walker

    Legend: Nick Chubb, Garrison Hearst

Former UGA great: Todd Gurley, Rodney Hampton and Sony Michel

Elite: James Cook and D'Andre Swift

Jeff Sentell-Thanks much for your reply. I enjoy your commentary and writings weekly(and videos). I have seen his highlights and agree that he is a fine RB. I don't know how fast he is, but I was alluding more to his size than anything. Does he have the size to carry the ball constantly in the SEC? Usually when you think of "game changers" in the SEC you think of running backs more like Herschel, Todd Gurley, and Nick Chubb—6'2-6'3—225 to 235 lbs. with quickness and speed.
