Of course it could be about the money, but, based on the things he said about UGA, it seems more likely to me that he decided he had a better opportunity to actually play at VT. UGA appears to be loaded at the QB position. VT is not loaded at the QB position. Heck, who wouldn’t have made the decision he made. There’s no need to criticize this young man under this fact pattern. There’s also no need to criticize our coaches and players IN THIS FACT PATTERN. As one who has done all kinds of criticizing of kids who decommitt and the offensive play calling, I can’t go there in this fact pattern.

The main question one might have is his saying he wanted to go where competing for a Natty is probable. Does VT fit that? Hold on, did Indiana fit in that category 2 years ago? Of course not. In fact, I’m still trying to figure out if Indiana really did win a Natty or whether it was a fiction movie I saw. VT has a new coach and a history of being a better program than Indiana. So maybe this young man thinks they can go to the top. Surely VT has a better chance of doing that than Vanderbilt where Curtis ended up.

That's concerning. He's good enough to be QB2 at Georgia but not good enough to be QB1 anywhere else?

Not good enough for Eastern Illinois? Northern Iowa? Delaware? Old Dominion?

but he’s not good enough to unseat Gunner. He wanted to play at a major school…why would he transfer now when he’s an injury away from getting a shot?

So, ride the pine and consume another year of eligibility and produce little to no stats. How much development time does he get from CKS' former roommate while Gunner is still a major work in process?

The magic ball says there are quality options elsewhere:

Ferris State is the top D-II NFL pipeline right now, and Tony Annese’s program has produced NFL players like Zach Sieler, Tavierre Thomas, Malik Taylor, Caleb Murphy, Mason Pline, and others. Ferris had 13 players in NFL preseason camps over the previous five years and 10 alums with regular-season NFL action over the past decade.

For pure offensive mind, also know Bob Stitt at Colorado School of Mines. He’s widely viewed as a D-II offensive innovator; Mines says his teams set nearly every program offensive record, and 5280 Magazine described him as an “offensive genius.

ND State is D-I and sends more than a few to the NFL.

SB came from D-II, I believe.

Or he could stay at Georgia knowing that Gunner could get hurt this year and he could step in and show what he’s working with. Puglisi is also the thing so many bemoan about the new generation: COMMITTED. Only when he knows all options are exhausted here will he leave.

Hmmmm. Hope that Gunner gets hurt or go and start for two years? (He'll be praying that Gunner gets taken out?) Or he could go and start for a year and return for his final year. We've been there and done that with a Natty. Or, if he's not that good, he stays and could start for his final year, achieve and get a combine invite.

Sorry, but my BDS thinks he could get coached-up better in two years at an FCS or D-I school with a real QB coach and an offensive HC.

Are we hurting our 5* QB chances by touting our D ahead of our O?

I can hear an opposing coach now: "UGA is low pay and all they talk about is their D. Kirby's a great D coach but you want to play for an O coach, like me. Besides, they haven't won a playoff since Monken left. If he were still there, I would tell you to go play for Coach Monken. But he's not. I like Coach Bobo but he hasn't sent a QB of note to the NFL since Matt Stafford and that was 17 years ago. I'll make sure you play down one and I'll increase your pay by 25%, if you take us to a bowl. I'll increase your pay by 50% for year two. If you take us to the CFP, I'll increase it by 100%—both years."

BINGO…..Pugs, Montgomery, Millender, The Bev, and even Colter Ginn could lead us to another Natty….they all have "The Right Dawg Stuff"….they just lack "Team Chemistry"…..ie: practice/playing time…..in the SFB IV tradition….Georgia is where a sow's ear can become a Pig Skin Elite QB!…….we DON'T need "Buck Hunters"!

"because he’s not that good enough to go elsewhere"

    WHat an absurd answer!

No qualifiers? Maybe not Ohio st or Bama, but just not good enough to go "elsewhere"?
