Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Well, crap - my "perspective" button got pushed, so I gotta talk a minute...
Stars are a measure of how these kids project to the NFL - not college ball (TWO levels up...). Always thought that was Reason #26 that recruiting rankings were a little... well... inexact. 3 star kid could be a monster at the college level that fits a system but doesn't (somehow) project well to the NFL in 4-5 years (just punched myself for even typing that...). 5 star guys could be workout monsters in shells (which is how many are evaluated over the summer) but not be able to read anything on game night.
Gotta coach 'em once they get there. Gotta make sure they go to class. Go to workouts. Eat right. Stay out of the girls' rooms. Watch the booze. Don't listen to folks tell 'em how good they already are.
I like the idea of "winning" in recruiting, mainly because I just don't like to lose. If you are gonna keep score, I wanna win. But, in the end, Clay Webb may actually not see the field or be a contributor for a couple of years. Cox might not be a good "fit" and leave. Crowell might tote a gun around with him. McBride may turn out to be a beast on special teams, but not the next Roquan.
Regardless of where they are ranked, only 12 of the guys we sign this year will be major contributors. 11 of them either won't embrace the life, or will not be the college player folks thought they may be. Not "busts" (what a terrible word for a college kid!), just not starters or big-time minute guys.
So, this new commit now has it all in front of him. Opportunity. Great staff. Surrounded by great facilities. Training table. Biggest factor comes down to how good he wants to be. Kinda cool.
Well played, sir...
Well played.
Agree....all things that need improvement.
with my past experiences and the fact that I'm a father of a kid that is pushing 6'6"......I can attest to the fact that these kids struggle with pad level....
1. Lower body is never strong enough for kids this size at this age.
2. Flexibility is always a problem in high school kids that are this size. Flexibility will always be a struggle.
3. And he won't be in great condition right now.
All things that the S&C program will correct.
Tate and Jones will have the same issues.....to a lesser degree.....but still same issues...
Knowing all this I was especially impressed with how low he was able to play and how quick his feet were. And he plays aggressively.
If this kid played in the south he would be rated much higher.
"If this kid played in the south he would be rated much higher."
Tex with a Stephen A. hot take for the day...
What’s the over/under on posts about the 3-star commit?
Kind if ironic that this thread is all about 5-star and high 4-stars yet we have three pages now talking about the #67 OT

@JeffSentell any validity to these posts about Burch on ESPN(U) at 2pm on Wednesday?
Not Jeff but Yes. He moved it up
If we lose B.Jones to the barn (which i dont discredit the smoke there, but still doubt this), would ya'll trade for Tank in this scenario (since tank is answering calls still)?...
No. Want Jones more than Tank. RBs are easier to come by. LT with elite ceiling potential are not in abundance.
I don't understand the question. I think we all want Jones AND Tank, so I don't know if getting Tank instead makes us feel all the way better, but it sure would help.
Players like Jones are much rarer than players like Tank. Would rather have Jones
Edit: just saw soflow beat me to it. What he said
I guess I framed it oddly. I meant it more as a trade to soften the blow. None of us want to lose Jones but if it happened but we got Tank would we be okay with this and be able to sleep at night.
I do not want to lose Jones. He’s a priority in my book.
Is there any smoke at all on this tank stuff ?
I'm confident that Dell has been working relentless overtime on Tank, but I'd be shocked if he flipped.
