Probably not the right thread
A lot of discussion above about QB replacements for Fromm. Was just adding my thoughts in. My apologies CZ
Wow!
lots of smoke on the uga vs osu qb battle..
Technically 28 hours 9 minutes from the time this was posted.
I keep seeing more and more on this as well. Apparently Stroud is still in contact with the staff and hasn't made a decision between the good guys and the dark side. Holding on to hope still!
@SoFL_Dawg
This is probably a question that should be in the 2021 thread but, how does D’Eriq King impact Caleb Williams?
I feel like if we are able to get D’Eriq King to be our QB in 2020, then that would bode extremely well with Caleb Williams. We would have a much more favorable offense for him and could compete with the likes of LSU/Bama/Clemson/Oklahoma/Ohio St in that respect.
If we don’t land D’Eriq King, and are forced to sign 2 2020 QBs, then there is no chance of signing Caleb Williams.
….which gives us a better shot at Gunner Stockton.
Not @SoFL_Dawg but I would say it'd be the same either way.
You sign two 2020 QBs with differing skill sets (Beck and Stroud) you may find a new starter and lose out of Caleb cause the battle may not be open if Coley gets who he likes. (Coley getting a HC job could open battle for 2021)
You sign one 2020 QBs (Beck) and take in a transfer (King) you allow Beck to learn the ropes. Not leaving out the fact things are looking better for Mathis. That'd still a open battle between Mathis (JR), Beck (soph), Williams (Frosh).
Tough decisions for Williams to view.
CJ Stroud - Per 247:
not too shabby sounding!
Stroud has a solid frame and will have no problem packing on good weight and filling out when he gets to college. He has one of the strongest arms in the country, a smooth, tight release and shows the athleticism to make plays outside the pocket. He throws the deep ball with touch and accuracy, plays with poise and calmness in the pocket and is only scratching the surface of how good he can be. He’s a late bloomer, and his junior year was his first as a starting varsity quarterback. He’s a two-sport athlete and is a talented basketball player. Once he can focus on just football in college, his game should take off to another level. Projects as an impact upper tier Power 5 starter and future mid-to-high round NFL draft pick.
Unfortunately unless Brady leaves LSU very soon, the shot at Caleb Williams already sailed off into the sunset.
To make this post somewhat relevant to 2020, it sounds like they might just try to go all in on 2 QBs in this class and put the full court press on Stockton for 2022.
Everyone is going to full court press Gunner.
I was about to post something that would have gotten a "wrong thread" comment from the mods and I fear them.
As far as 2020, I know people want an Evans surprise, I'm telling you flat out, you don't want this kid. Talent does NOT trump all. I will honestly be peeved if we sign him, but I doubt I'll have to worry about that.
