Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

You are only allowed to have 85 scholarship players but you also are only allowed to recruit 25 in any year. The 25 is an absolute rule but can be gotten around by adding players on or after the start of fall practice under certain conditions. For the class of 2020 we start with 25 but 2 of those were Cager and Wolf as with (Grad) Transfers that arrive between the end of spring semester and the start of Fall semester can be charged against the year in question (in their case 2019) or the following year (2020). As the 2019 "Initials" had also been used, Cager and Wolf had to be 2020 Initials. Hence the 23 spots. Now they can be supplemented with athletes that meet the criteria for being able to count as 2021 initials. We currently have 23 committed or signed BUT
Consensus is Zirkel will be a Blue Shirt and so be charged as 2021.
McKitty is a Grad Transfer coming in May/June so will also be 2021
Newman - Also a grad transfer but is already enrolled and so will be a 2020.
The above means we have room for 2 more net additions and up to 23 more grad transfers/blue shirt (not advisable) as long as the 85 is not violated..
This is the basis of the original 23 estimate but also of note is that at that time there were 2 open scholarships and 15 seniors leaving giving in theory only 17 allowed in under the 85 rule. The 23 thus assumed 6 departures over and above the 17. Early NFL and transfers out were needed to get to the 23 and don't add to what can be taken in from this class.
If you want to talk scholarship numbers please start another thread. Let's keep this to news on specific 2020 recruits. Thanks
BTW If we get the 2 adds this means that the 2021 Class will be limited to 23 also. This could change. If for instance we add 4 more, 2 of those would have to be Blue Shirts or Transfers qualified to be charged against 2021 thus reducing the 2021 spots available to 21. On the other hand, if we don't get any more signed for 2020 (inc BJ and SVPG) then McKitty and Zirkel will be reclassified as 2020 initials and 2 of the 2020 initials will be unused. Thus the 2021 class will have 27 spots available.
Both posts assume that Kirksey is a PWO
Do you not think that the number of commits we can take is relevant to who we take? When you have 23 spots open the relative important of positional needs is minor. When you are down to 1 or 2 left, the position is in many ways more important than talent. You may decide that a 3* ILB (who can sub in as a RB if needed) is more likely to be the next (maybe last) to commit than Evans.
So is it Richard Samuel or Tae Crowder coming back? /s
seems to be a concept difficult to understand...
Who needs discussion of recruiting numbers cluttering the thread about recruiting when you have important info about ham giveaways to discuss?
I didn't say it was completely irrelevant, just not relevant enough when folks are looking for news on Evans, Broderick, etc. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for understanding.
Thanks!
When is Huntley OV?
Got another forecast for Evans on rivals just now
I got an idea from @SquillDawg that may be even better:
What is Burch talk and where is it coming from, hope or facts?
Hopefully, from facts.
We'll have a Ladd commit next.
He's coming by for a free steak and lobster dinner when his teammate Huntley takes an official
