Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

I think I like Williams most and it’s partly because I believe we lead for him. He’s a smaller kid but versatile. Can play LS or CB, and based on film could make a nice punt returner like “Joystick” was. However, Cine will likely be our LS and has the makings of a 1st round pick if the position wasn’t being devalued in NFL. Cine might be the best we’ve had back there in a long time.
Thompson is a priority target as well but we trail here. Thompson is more of a traditional safety, mostly appears to be a replacement option for Reed here but we trail and it’s not looking good. We are in on Branch now that Warren is here but I like Williams more. Branch is also more of a traditional safety.
Staff doesn’t look ahead to 21 class but I will. I’d consider taking Williams in 20, Go all in on David Daniels in 21 for traditional safety. We have Reese to replace Reed and could cross train someone as backup for the role.
Correct. On both counts.
Simple thing to remember: He only counts once as a signee in terms of the per year tally.
The other thing to remember is once they enroll. That number is always capped at 85 scholarships.
Truth be told, it is the one that college coaches generally pay more attention to.
Does it fill a need at this time? Seems like the safety position is well stocked for the moment. I like the guy and wish him well but the paradigm may have shifted since we originally recruited him.
There will be more need for another safety before most think, especially if our star position continues to be utilized via the safety position.
1. Reed is gone and will be a day 2 pick in NFL
2. If LeCounte declares it gets real thin. Also projected day 2.
Gotta build a two deep out of these options. 1st string is gold.
Cine-True Sophomore
Reese-Junior
Two deep:
Poole-Senior; (hasn’t yet made his stamp on team)
Chris Smith-Junior; Love his heart but...small dude.
Brini- RS Junior; (hasn’t yet made his stamp on team)
Webb, Stevenson, Speed, Wilson all primary CBs at traditional, Nickel (STAR), and Dime (MONEY). Safe to assume Campbell will not move over either.
I love the starters, would be anxious if one of them went down.
Up until 2018 a player that DNQ but had signed a LOI did not count and could be replaced. In 2018 and going forward a player that DNQ counts against that year and cannot be replaced either that year or in future classes. Nadab was signed but DNQ so counted as a 2018 signee so he is "Free" to UGA but would cost Alabama a 2020 spot if he signs there (in effect be counted as a transfer). The 25 rule relates to the first scholarship/LOI at that institution.
Then, Kirby has to weigh signing Joseph versus signing a '20 guy (any position of need), 'cause either way a "85" slot is taken. (Posted for us slow lane guys.) Seems like if Joseph is fully suitable, then perhaps he would have already been re-offered/committed? Could Joseph like Bammer so much?
If Nadab can play still and looks good on tape, there's no reason we shouldn't consider him. But I'm not sure if he would be at or near the top of the big board as it sits today.
Not being disrespectful to others but Nadab is a much better “athlete” than everyone excluding Cine. I don’t think he’d play SS but I could be wrong.
Link?
Anyone hear what Jeff said about Gilbert? Chat doesn't seem too pleased. I had it playing in the background while working and missed it. Are we trending down with Gilbert? I know @SoFL_Dawg still has confidence in Gilbert ending up with us, but I was curious to hear Jeff's thoughts and don't want to wait for the podcast to release it. I have angst. lol
Jeff Sentel is the link. I imagine @AugDawg69 was listening/watching the DawgNationDailey stream, as was I. I just had it in the background and missed. Curious as to what @JeffSentell said.
I believe that the 25 will limit this class (remember Wolf and Cager count against the 2020 25 limit) rather than the 85. We lose 16 to graduation and have 4 sure NFL early entrees (Fromm, Swift, Thomas Wilson) and a number of other NFL possibilities (I go with 3 others). I also believe there will be 4 enter the portal by season's end. That would open up 16+4+3+4=27 scholarships with only 23 allowed under the annual rule leaving 4 open to sign Blue Shirts, a player like Nadab or grant a scholly to a PWO etc.
Feels like Tennessee may get him as a WR. Essence was 50/50 on where he ends up was my takeaway.
If he signs to UT as a WR, I wouldn't be shocked if he's moved to DE by the end of his freshman season. I think Pruitt knows his best bet to climbing back to relevance is defense first.
What about Cine & Reese, give Nadab a “redshirt” year to get back into form in 2020.
2021, a mixture of the 3 or if Reese were to turn pro, Nadab at “free” and Cine at “strong”. (“” are because UGA doesnt run a traditional safety set per say but want to position them).
