Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Similar thoughts. I am wary of "Athletes" and in many ways prefer positional specialists even if they don't have quite the same talent. Don't get me wrong but even Mecole, who was exciting to watch, could get under the ball and had good hands but I recall few if any times he went up in traffic and came down with the ball. That to me makes the difference between a good and great receiver.
For that reason Johnson and Carr may prove a better fit than Gilbert and Washington except in our pursuit for #1 class ranking. I will be happy if we get any 2 of the 4, after all the purpose is to win the games not the recruiting battles (although talent certainly helps).
He's a really fast WR out of New Orleans. Only a 3* so not a lot of attention from the sites near as I can tell. Runs track. I think Jeff had a blurb in his info dump thread.
Yeah, I looked him up on 247 and saw he was CBed to Clemson but it was Jake Reuse who brought him up so I was curious.
Trusting staff as usual here. If they want Wren then I’m 100% behind it. Sure seems like Henning is a really high quality, talented kid with character who fell in love with the program though. I’d hate to see the staff pass on him.
FWIW I took a somewhat (hopefully) conservative evaluation of yet to commit. With the current 13 commits and adding Ringo, Milton, Bigsby, Theo Johnson, Rosemy, Raym and Tae Williams for a total of 20 the 247 composite score would be 304.4, good enough to get #1 before the top 3 add any. This is very likely the floor given that we are in play with a number of 5* and will almost certainly exceed 20 inc kicker.
Very specific skill set that they want there.
Wren is the most like Mecole imo. Speed sweeps, would need to mature in slot, be a great candidate for KR as well. RS first year unless ST play keeps him from doing so.
Smith is the elite track athlete this class and his track speed translates to the football field. Also comes from Lakeland, FL and many stud players come out of there. If I were picking, he’d be the guy for me regardless of ranking.
Hankton knows what his room doesn't have and is looking to specifically fill that. He’s got a fast guy in Drob but Drob isn’t especially quick. Does sound like the Jarrett ship has officially sailed for those wondering; he was the top priority there and we didn’t win.
