Maybe it's because of the love they are both showing for each other and the fact that he's announcing on a former DAWGS bday. I could be VERY wrong, but I honestly think he MAY shock the cfb recruiting world n become a DAWG. Have zero to assume this other than the fact that he's worked with Edwards for a few yrs now. Doing it on a guys bday that was such a DGD, and it also being Gday; the room just looks smoky. But again I could be way off the mark. He's definitely my favourite WR in this class!

So I'll share something that I've been sensing and dealing with for the last 8-10 months or so. I now kind of expect most UGA classes to be like 2019 model now. At least this early.

The sands shift. Often.

Here's why:

• Georgia goes after the nation's elite players now. With all the big boys. Period.
• The Bulldogs have won a lot of head-to-head recruiting battles there of late with those heavy waders on in the deep water.
• So what is different now from the 2017-2018 classes? It isn't that the staff has lost its touch or rapport with these kids. It is that UGA no longer recruits from an elite starter or depth deficit anymore.
• Simply put, the Bulldogs no longer realistically have playing time to dangle in a lot of core areas of the team.
• There's a fine line here that Bama has been able to manage because it brings home the big big trophies. A lot of kids just do not want to wait to play.
• My working models now assume to expect these back-and-forth targets in areas where the Bulldogs have stacked up the players. Very unpredictable. Even more so than the norm.
• The program will not recruit guys to sit for two years. They want guys who can push their front-line Bulldogs. I don't believe the program can realistically pull in more than 1-2 elite guys at these positions right now: CB, ILB, OLB, OG
• The board also changes right now due to evaluation. Look for the staff to have more confidence after spring football and team camp evals. The board will settle in mid-June.
• I place more degrees of confidence in position groups where the program can realistically pitch there is a "Help Wanted" sign above the depth chart. That's where these kids can see the professional attrition on the way and a lot of upperclassmen.
• Those positions for this year are clearly K, OT, QB, RB and TE. I would expect the University of Georgia to do very well in those areas in the 2020 class. The program still needs DLs and DTs, but the staff did just sign a slew in 2019. It will always need DEs and DTs, though. WR will be a wait-and-see group.
• This is college recruiting at the highest levels now. I wouldn't expect this program to lose many head-to-heads with any schools outside the top shelf of Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State and maybe Stanford for more than just to play football. Texas is also rising.
• Tennessee is thriving right now in the same ways the UGA classes soared in 2017 and 2018. The Vols now must win big this year to maintain that stride. Can't offer jobs and PT for much longer. Need to see it on the field.

@JeffSentell Thank you. Very much valued. I didn't see one thing, though. Why does UGA seem to drag out its commitments versus other top ranked teams like Bammer and Clemp...? Bammer is the closest to UGA's situation per your description above. Yet is has commitments from many. Is the lack of commitments now Kirby's preference? I recall reading that he wanted recruits to think things over and be sure of their choice. Is it the board? Any reason why Bammer would see its needs more closely and finely tuned than UGA?

I thought that 2019 might be the model. Happy for the confirmation.

@JeffSentell This is just so unlike anything in Georgia football, that existed previous to the nowadays with HC Kirby Smart, and his staff in my entire lifetime!!! That’s nearly 56 years!! Surreal? Unreal? Unbelievable!!! FREAKING WOW!!! GO DAWGS!!!

New as a registered user to this forum but I've been lurking for well over a year now. Just want to comment that this is by far the best repository of recruiting information I've come across, including any pay sites out there in cyberspace.
