Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

Beck's commitment can't hurt our chances of getting Arik. He obviously would prefer a Pro v Dual. Wants to catch balls not be the 6th OL
Piggybacking on earlier statement. Beck has shut down recruitment as expected and we could be done at QB for 20.
Next couple of weeks will be telling on what QBs we continue to pursue or if there’s buzz out there for second commitment.
I hope we are done at QB

What he said
Big question, wonder him much pull Beck could have on other FL Offensive prospects :
RB - D Bowman / WR - L Manuel / WR - M Rosemy / T - J Rivers / TE -D Mammarelli
Beck will be the pied piper for this class.
I’m more curious will he be traveling to go have conversations with his neighborhood friend Fred Davis about being a Dawg so he doesn’t have to embarrass him
@tiger_62082 looks spot on with this comment.
I strongly believe we will look back on this weekend come December and we will see this was the weekend the cornerstone of the 2020 class were laid.
At this point, Kirby just has to manage the talent in the QB room. He did a p i s s poor job of that with Fields - whether you believe Justin was the Anti Christ or think he was vastly underutilized or fall somewhere in between. No doubt last year was a learning experience for all involved. The fact that Not So Slim Jim - aka I can’t adapt - is gone should help in this regard. I see Beck redshirting, just like Mathis will, whether Fromm leaves after next year (unlikely in my opinion) or comes back for his senior year. Mathis could be a one year starter and leave after his redshirt freshman year if he pulls it all together. Kid has great tools, elite measurables and was highly underrated coming out of high school; all he needs is refinement.
I agree primarily. There needs to be improvement and I’ll leave at that to avoid opening up a can.
Mathis reports early on are positive but I wonder if fully legit. I think there’s a deliberate effort to simply move on and the chatter on Mathis is designed to help with that. Mathis should RS this year. If Fromm declares, my guess is grad transfer QB for 20 season. I’m not confident Stet gets a chance to start. Still think Mathis is a two year developmental player, and Carson will be a true freshman early enrollee. Agreed on best case scenario, Fromm stays 4, reigns are passed to Beck or Mathis, next big target is Gunner Stockton for 22. Beck or Mathis carry us until 23 season.
I have learned that your player assessments are first class but do not see Mathis or Beck redshirting. It is important to get the back-up QB as many reps as possible so that in the event of a mid/late season injury he can come in and perform. I don't see Fromm coming back if we have the type of season that most expect.
*Sorry I meant Mathis should leave after his redshirt sophomore year
Vandagriff in 2021
Stockton in 2022
UGASports.com & Jeff Sentell legend Stetson Bennett IV aka the Mailman was brought in so that we could redshirt Mathis and the QB we take in 2020 (Beck). That's why he was placed on scholarship - despite throwing almost as many INTs as TDs last year.
Nah, I don't see us bringing in any mercenaries at QB to start. We'll go with Mathis after Fromm leaves and then go with Beck, Vandagriff and Stockton. Not a good look for a team like us to bring in generals from the portal. Let these young pups prove themselves & grow. Redshirt liberally
Could be. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Brock head elsewhere now. I think with our system, he would’ve welcomed the challenge against Mathis/Dixon/Criswell/Ashford...not so sure against Beck who will have 1.5 year head start. Stockton looks the part too with class separation.
Methinks I will be writing a "The Weekend that Was" piece as a cornerstone to the 2020 class at some time over the next 10 months.
This recent "Junior Day" tour hit the same notes for guys that the scavenger hunt and ribbon cutting weekends in May did for the 2019 group.
Let's see if things hold up over the long run first, though.
"Things change, Mox."
If anything, the 2019 cycle taught all of us that.
@tiger_62082 I think you’re selling short the win now mentality. I’m in a wait and see mode on Mathis. That shouldn’t be taken as a shot towards him, I just think he’s a 2 year guy. So if Fromm declares, who is in place to take a national championship caliber program back to PO? I wouldn’t want to trust that to a true freshman or developmental QB. I know Fromm did it his freshman year, but we rode a group of seniors and run game to the Natty primarily.
