Weller SR is one of the best for the money. There are better options out there, but will be hard to beat Weller SR at its price point
One of my favorite ryes
Amen!!!!
There was an error rendering this rich post.
A little Redbreast for St. Patties Day...
I am really enjoying it
I ended up selling the Angel's Envy Rye. It was good at first but the more i drank the sweeter it got to the point that i found it sickly sweet
the 12? I love that stuff
I have a similar glass. I got mine from Nine Line
Yes sir on the 12, I got the glass at lucky shot
The thread is BACK, just in time for the weekend!
has anyone tried the Virginia Black whiskey?
someone gifted me a bottle last week, have not opened it yet. Kind of blingy and I know Drake is the spokesman or something for it. Wonder if it is any good
a buddy of mine won a lottery/right to buy a bottle of the canadian club 41
he got to taste it before he bought it and said it was really good. but at $325 I would not be buying it
I’m going to ask a silly question and apologies in advance, but what is crown considered? I have some reserve or whatever it is called and need a bourbon for a recipe. I’ve heard some say it is and some say it isn’t, but never see it used in this particular manner that I want to use it in. All it will be used for is to spray meat, Apple juice and bourbon. Always use apple cider vinegar and apple juice, but wanted to try something different
@JRT812 I'm not the expert on this thread, but the short answer to your question is that Crown is blended Canadian whiskey, not bourbon.
But I do like to cook, and the best advice I ever got when cooking with beer, wine or liquor as a marinade or an ingredient, is to use the same stuff you like to drink. If you like drinking Crown, it'll probably do the job just fine.
EDIT: the counterargument to this is that Crown has a bit of sweetness to it, so it might be worthwhile to use a true bourbon to complement the apple juice better.
Thanks another dawg bro. It’s been so long since I had any liquor I cant even remember what a crown and coke tastes like or even what crown tastes like. To be honest, I’m not ever sure where this bottle came from haha. Maybe I will try it on something easy like smoking a butt.
Edit - so for my understanding. A whiskey is not the same thing as bourbon? I know it sounds ****, but I have no idea about this stuff. A local smoker told me to try this, but didn’t want to spend money on a bourbon when I had this bottle of crown at home. I may just have to visit the ole local liquor store then
Sounds good with the recipe. Don'y worry about the Crown. Not like your doing $5 pumps on each of those sprays,,,,,,,
