Hey folks - as a member of the DawgNation community, please remember to abide by simple rules of civil engagement with other members:
- Please no inappropriate usernames (remember that there may be youngsters in the room)
- Personal attacks on other community members are unacceptable, practice the good manners your mama taught you when engaging with fellow Dawg fans
- Use common sense and respect personal differences in the community: sexual and other inappropriate language or imagery, political rants and belittling the opinions of others will get your posts deleted and result in warnings and/ or banning from the forum
- 3/17/19 UPDATE -- We've updated the permissions for our "Football" and "Commit to the G" recruiting message boards. We aim to be the best free board out there and that has not changed. We do now ask that all of you good people register as a member of our forum in order to see the sugar that is falling from our skies, so to speak.

could be him and harris alternating
I’m looking at the basketball portal for 2 point guards. I also see a couple guys not returning to the program that are not seniors. But i believe the core shall remain in tack to give us a big chance to make a ton of noise.
Could you imagine how crazy the Benz would be if the Dawgs made the run and got to the final four in 2020. Like ultimate home court advantage. Note Atlanta is the host city.
is definitely a possibility if we tack on some more depth... i think Hightower and Toppin are gone
I liken Edwards college potential quite a bit more toward power combo guards than your normal SG type. That’s not to say he can’t have the movement and screens game, but I see much more like younger versions of Oladipo/Mitchell (perhaps the better college version)/Harden/etc (if you’re not very familiar with them in college, it’s easy to look it up) when I watch highlights. Not a guy like young Klay Thompson for example. He’s a guy that, as long as he succeeds, we’ll hear about in the NBA 3-4 years after his 1 and done year that put him in the top 5, as a player that is averaging 20/5/5 on good percentages.
That’s not to say that PG doesn’t need to be addressed. It needs to be addressed but the need is really more on the line of a secondary handler type that can D up and be a decent 3-point shooter than a true PG. If you can get a true PG, great, but the need isn’t that great.
@brentwilson as you said earlier. Hightower announces he is out at Georgia. He has entered the portal of basketball.
I’m curious on any more names out of HS who could commit to UGA. I have a few who we might be targeting but not sure because I don’t follow b-ball recruiting.
@SouthGA_Dawg
Precious Achuiwa SF 5*
Niven Glover SG 3* (Multi year player)
Trae Broadnax PG 3* (Played with top level guys his HS career, playing the wait and see right now, from Savannah)
Josh Pierre Louis PG 3* (My fave as a PG need)
I think Precious is not likely now that we have 3 SFs committed
I wonder if they have given a look at Lance Terry point guard from Dalton. His high school team has beaten Edwards team. Do not know much about him but he is rated higher than Broadnax or Louis.
I hate to qwell enthusiasm, but this thread is like reading a USCjr board regarding their upcoming football season. Final Four talk? When was the last time UGA won a single NCAA tournament game?
If they can make it to the tournament I'd be happy. Having a player with Edwards talent level and not making the tournament would not be a good look. There was a big criticism at Tech for not making it with Bosh.
And LSU with Simmons
@Bankwalker I believe it was 1996. Tubby Smith's first season. Led by Katu Davis, Shandon Anderson, and Carlos Strong, Georgia knocked off Clemson and #1 seed Purdue before falling to Syracuse 83-81 in the Sweet 16. (Syracuse went on to the finals where they lost to Kentucky.)
Some of us are excited about the basketball program because it's the start of a new era under Coach Crean, and because we have a commitment from Anthony Edwards, who is not only better than anyone on that '96 team, he might turn out to be the best player ever to set foot on campus. And unlike in football, one guy can make a huge impact on a basketball team. As a true freshman I expect he's worth +10 wins and an invite to the dance. Hopefully that will establish a foundation that we can build a consistent winning program on.
And Clayton won’t be forced to run point... 🤯
He will have to be special to be better than Dominique Wilkins
