This isn’t a pure billy Bob situation like last year. Some players have tendency to send mixed messages while not realizing they’re a fringe player for this team. Causes confusion and headaches. Best way to put it, some players need to shut down their recruitment faster than others.
also, this would be the third year in a row where the first commit to that years class later de-committed
Yeah that’s the really nasty side of recruiting. I like Nazir. He committed early and has shown lots of passion for UGA. It sucks to see stuff like that, tbh.
Saw one on Hartley last week. Special, even coaching up Clay Webb. We have a great staff with questions on Fountain, jury still out on him. ST took a step back on the field and I can’t pinpoint his impact on recruiting off top of my head. Could be a prove it year.
I’m confused. You’re saying Nazir is sending mixed messages? Because I feel like I’ve seen nothing but love Forbes UGA and no one else by him. He even RT a tweet about Fields transferring and said something (and im paraphrasing) like “Nooo not before I get there!”
Do you feel like Jay Hardy and Jalen Carter and others are being recruited harder than him/ recruiting over him?
Not so fast, read above. Staff proceeds slower now to prevent situations like Brule, Wildgoose, Perry, Bertrand, etc. Stackhouse really needs to reevaluate where his heart/head are at. Mixed signals to industry reporters, staff, and rival coaches. All recruits will be treated fairly, not equally.
I’m also loving that intel from Jeff that Pittman and Dell are double teaming Milton, makes all the sense in the world. I’m not sure if that’s normal, or reserved for specific recruits that are a big time need
Jalen Carter showed up in mock so I’d have to ride with that one. Hardy is being recruited but staff is heavy on Cowan and interest is mutually high. Don’t see a scenario today where Hardy and Cowan are in this class unless there’s a miss no one is expecting on DL with Walker. Hardy and Cowan virtually same player but Cowan has been recruited by Scott since 8th grade.
I thought all the guys you just listed "decommitted" because of the fact that UGA was getting a higher rated player, Examples: Stevenson, Dean, Campbell, Cox, Walker? I thought maybe the coaches loved the players that came on "more" based off of their talent and what they saw. So they informed those that "decommitted" that they didn't have a commitable offer, anymore. Am I wrong? Because why I feel like I am reading from you is that they players weren't 100%, so UGA looked elsewhere.
I trust everything you are saying. You seem to hit the nail on the head the little I've read since being on here. I am just trying to wrap my head around what I once perceived to what I am now reading. With that said, the guys mentioned above on DL (Carter, Cowan, Hardy) are all rated higher on 247 Sports than Nazir. With that said, those are all based off of recruiting rankings and not based on what guys the staff really wants. It just appears that Nazir is being recruited over, which is why I said it is nasty and sucks for him being committed for so long.
@bmitcham89
You misinterpreted. Clarifying. For those I listed, excluding Nazir, they all wanted to be Dawgs but staff had concerns. Staff had honest convo with them and their ability to see meaningful minutes and they were persuaded to open up their recruitment. Some take this really well and move on (Elijah Moore), others it really affects them (Aaron Brule). Typically this doesn’t happen unless staff feels great about a situation with a higher target on their board.
Nazir is different because staff hasn’t advised him on limited snaps/opportunities “yet”. He’s sending mixed signals based on his recruitment. As he’s looking around, staff looks around. Difference is, he isn’t Bryan Bresee and staff can find players who project to same output and likely higher rated on their board. Same thing happened leading up to ESD for 19. A player on DL was asked to shut it down so staff could focus efforts elsewhere or they’d open up the recruitment. That player shut it down and ceased the flirting with other SEC rivals and they were still in class.
in long, these are two ways to look at this type of situation.
Personally I like Cowan best out of him Carter, Stackhouse, and Hardy but that’s just my opinion
Agreed. He’s underrated. He’s not Myles but the drop off isn’t extraordinary.
Sounds like you are referring to Walker at the end of that. I'd say same for Marshall.
But that makes a lot more sense. I just wasn't aware of Nazir looking elsewhere. It was common knowledge about the 5 starts or near 5 stars that we had last year, but I guess because he is lower rated, it was more under the radar.
Thanks for the info. With your initial post, you listed "WR- Jennings/Hudson/Jarrett/Rosemy". Does that mean:
Sorry for all the questions. This Mock just really intrigued me. I didn't expect to see another highly rated WR with Robinson because I think we are getting both Washington and Gilbert.
