Don't get too caught up with which two running backs it will be. Georgia is going to sign two great backs. Whether it's Milton and/or Lloyd or two guys not on anyone's radar - Georgia will get quality running backs.
I agree on disappointment and the statement Tex made. I think we currently have 1 five star already, just my thoughts. So it comes down to the last spot and who gets the nod.
I appreciate all of the positivity from most, but I cant help to feel discouraged. I am surrounded by Tigers and there is no denying what Dabo is doing is special with this 2020 class. Seems they keep piling them on. Hard not to feel like they are getting who they want and we are "in the hunt" for the leftovers, trailing in some cases. I certainly trust CKS but I would be lying if I said I didnt have expectations for something special after this weekend.
Guys it’s 10am on a Monday. In my experience these commitments happen after the visit, rarely during
Dell liking and giving McGowan a true commit anytime offer speaks volumes to me. Especially when there are so many moving pieces right now at the RB. I trust Dell like I trust Pitboss.
Something in me has always doubted Milton being in this class. I naturally think a kid from so far away is an extremely high transfer risk.
Also, @SoFL_Dawg is Burroughs considered a lock for this class? Seems like with Stackhouse being processed, news of his weight gain, and top d-linemen looking our way, his spot would be shaky
I agree with you 100%, we're RBU but it's gonna be hard for me not to get hyped up about 2 of the top RB prospects.
What is the knock on Tank Bigsby? Hes #50 overall in the country per 247, yet he is 71% to USCjr.
Understood. My response is not unique. It’s recruiting and be patient. We will have no less than the number 3 class and will land highest avg. per player. If we can take 23+, we will be #1 again.
The only miss has been Bresee. We all wanted Murphy but based on recent intel, it’s too early to classify Murphy as a miss. We lost an instate kid who didn’t love us, all good.
We haven’t missed on anyone but Bresee, as “staff sees it”. It’s important to make that distinction here.
Burch =Dawg... Hopefulyy
There were speed concerns, then he turned in a 4.5 40. Evals are continuing here. We may be too late but if Dell decides he wants Bigsby as the number 2 back, it could pick up quickly. For now, nothing’s changed.
McGowan has a committable offer but we likely trail today. He came in trending OU but I believe based on what I’m hearing that his family is likely giving this some long thoughts.
Milton is taking his decision into the season and we trail osu currently. We do our best work when games start, reflect back to previous classes. Do not rule out staff changing the board here, they could care less about rankings. For me, he’s still 1A-B after turning in a 4.7. Lloyd will pass him with strong/healthy senior year.
Lloyd-Dawg
Evans-10% or less chance today. I’ll reiterate we do our best work in the season. Let’s see what he thinks when he watches the OL and confirms that Swift is 3 and done.
I'm definitely not worried about the RBs. Lloyd is ranked where Chubb (6th) and ahead of Gurley (9th). And neither of them had Pittman's Great Wall leading the way. Plus Dell could still work his magic--and McGowan may not be correctly evaluated by the recruiting pundits.
Clemson is going to sign a great class. But there will be 5 great classes signed. Lately it's been Bama, Georgia and Ohio State plus two other schools.
Bama and Georgia will still get their's. The question is , who will Clemson hurt with their great class. It will probably be Ohio State.
Dabo, Saban and Smart are great recruiters. But they are all different in their approach. Saban typically locks in most of his class early - Dabo seems to be doing the same thing.
Kirby doesn't - he hasn't filled his class quickly since he has been there. Remember how 2018 came together.
Clemson's class is close to being full and there are plenty of great players still left on the board - many leaning toward Georgia.
Kirby is trying to sign the very best 21-23 players that he can get and he wants to make sure that they are the right kids for Georgia. And many of Georgia's targets want to wait till the very end to make their decision.
In February 2020 Georgia will end up with the 1st, 2nd or 3rd rated class - another huge success. Who cares if Clemson or Bama fills their class before we do. All that really matters is the final result.
No way in hell five backs are better than Lloyd. We knew he was strong and Ran behind his pads. I didn’t know the wiggle he had until watching opening clips, definitely didn’t think he was a 4.5 guy.
I know a UGA staffer who did know all of these things though...
2019 class - many were left with an anticlimactic feeling on NSD as, Pickens apart, there were few surprises. Some of those same people want to have the class set by June. I certainly want a repeat of 2019 where we get the backbone of the class in December but am trying to be other than a nervous wreck as the other classes develop. Just trusting in Kirby and Co and hoping the key elements of the class don't go off the board unless it's to UGA. 7 of the top 10 and 16 of the top 30 have yet to commit so the big fish pond is still well stocked.
There’s pros and cons to committing early. Committing early informs competitors of the top competition. This is when you see majority of negative recruiting that hopefully isn’t very successful. The pro is you build your class and you focus on retention only. This year, I think many are too focused on what CU does. CU is the only school that’s successful in getting their recruits to shut it down. To be fair, they also miss on recruits because of that.
We’re not them and Kirby has proven since his arrival at UGA he is second to none at this recruiting thing. We just have to relax, grab 3-5 more big names before season’s start, then win games. The remainder will be sorted in Dec.
