When will the Braves be able to draft top international talent again?

How long must they suffer from their misdeeds on the international player front? Does anyone know what happened to their top international pick who re-signed with someone else? I haven't heard much about him. He's likely 18 or 19 now.

2021 is when they can go after Latin American players again. As far as all other international players, below is from the Chicago Tribune...

"The Braves will be prohibited from signing any international player for more than $10,000 during the 2019-20 signing period. Also, the team's international signing bonus pool for the 2020-21 signing period will be reduced by 50 percent.

The Braves already cannot give an international signing bonus of more than $300,000 for 2017-18 and 2018-19 as penalties for exceeding their signing bonus pools under baseball's previous labor contract."

Kevin Maitan has struggled mightily so far. He is in A ball and one of the younger players for sure, so there is time to improve, but not likely to be the generational type player that some people had predicted.

It turns out we did land the generational Latin American player, but it wasn't Maitan.

There isn’t an international draft unfortunately, it’s all free agency. You’re just only allotted a certain amount of money to sign from. You can trade international pool money, but you can’t trade draft picks. It’s all very **** IMO. Maybe if there were a draft, there wouldn’t be any misdeeds.

Correct Boro, there is an international signing period with rules though.
