A Plethora of National Day Choices today
Someone used the word plethora recently. There is a veritable plethora of choices today. Is it "is a plethora" or "are a plethora" ? At any rate:
As mentioned yesterday, today is National Cooler Day, the Friday before Memorial Day.
It is also National Road Trip Day, although that may not always prove to be a great idea due to a mixture of traffic and consumables. Please be cautious if you choose to celebrate this day, but it's a chance to combine two days in one.
It's also National Don't Fry Day. Try baking instead for a change.
I'm not a chef and don't play one on TV, but it is National Escargot Day. Can they be baked/roasted?
And finally, and certainly not least for those of you who fly a lot or may be flying today, it's National Aviation Maintenance Technician Day - hope they keep those "wing nuts" tight!!

Road Trip Day, headed for the State Soccer Tournament this weekend.
Happy Plethora Day everybody.
Plethora implies plural so I'd go with "are a plethora".
@donm Go you winged nuts!

Happy National Escargot Day!
Either way works. Plethora is singular so "is" would be grammatically correct, but notional agreement is fine in this instance.
Yep, you’re right, I rethought that after I posted. Implies multiple items but in a single group.
