National Corn Fritters Day

donmdonm Posts: 10,241 ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

Don't recall ever eating these, but the pictures look delicious. Any comments on these?

It's also National Personal Chef Day. Not to be confused with private chefs, who often live on the premises and/or work for only one client, personal chefs can have several clients and either cook in or prepare the food elsewhere and deliver it. If they have several clients, that's a lot of shopping, chopping and dicing. Hats off to them. I know a lot of athletes use personal chefs. Would be nice to just sit down and eat.

This site has several corn bread recipes. The fritters are in a link at the bottom. More like a variation on a theme - few distinctions. Definitely like jalapenos in the cornbread. (Was searching for corn dodgers - from the first True Grit movie.)

TIP Alert: Also, one thumbnail shows a slice of cornbread taken from a CIS. A good habit to practice is to loosen the cornbread in the skillet with a plastic etc. spatula, then place a plate over the top and flip the cornbread into the plate. Finally, take the final plate, and place it over the topside down CB, and flip that onto the final plate. Cut it on the final plate, not the CIS. One extra plate to wash (or not - not judging), but no damage to the CIS.

I'm not sure mine wanted the job permanently but he wouldn't get out of my way when I was cooking and kept asking why I was doing things the way I did so one day I got fed up and asked him if he wanted to take care of dinner and he's been doing it ever since.

Would a hush puppy qualify as as corn fritter?

who am I to judge, but I'd say no. Aren't hush puppies corn "meal". I think the fritters have actual kernels of corn in them.
