I understand what we do here is split hairs. And while I enjoy it, I'd like to point out something regards to the TE. It ultimately doesn't matter which two of the 4 we get because it won't be the difference between winning and losing a championship. At least not as our offense is currently operates.
Do most people think Evans is Bama bound or will he pull the trigger for one of the Texas teams? I'd be surprised if we land him.
Interesting quote by him in the 247 article posted above:
**
“I adapt,” Evans said. “Say I’m in college and you go against a team like Alabama or Clemson, you’re going to play like you’ve never played before. Me, I’m just going to keep it plain jane. I’m going to play it like you play it. If you go hard, I’m going to go harder.

Is a guy likely to talk about going against Alabama if he’s thinking of playing there?
Good observation. Don’t think bama will be the choice. That said, not overly confident it’ll be us either.
Very important point - we (including “me”) tend to get starry eyed watching these prospects run fade routes in 7v7s but you can’t be a TE at a school nicknamed RBU without being fully prepared to runblock
Yes and no... I agree that AG definitely not destined for the "mow you over" blocking TE. Theo has been described as a good combo between AG and DW, so it would seem like he certainly has the ability to develop in that mold still.
Ultimately, there is a lot of value though in a TE as a receiving threat... Large's receiving skillset - at least as it's been on display so far - simply does not seem to offer significantly more than putting "Cade Mays" as a TE (substitute for whoever the 6th man is on the OL in 2020 and beyond). You have to account for another blocker, but you more or less know it's a blocker.
Word from my tamu friend in the overall feeling from the Aggies. He says the feeling in college station is that if we get milton, they’ll get Evans. This is largely based on a belief that Jimbo will be able to keep top Texas talent in state. Also got the point across that they have much more to lose and much more to gain in this recruitment than we do.
They have a really good class on offense, and a favorable depth chart to be featured as a freshman. He said it would be hard to believe the best rb prospect from Texas since Adrian Peterson would leave the state to play second fiddle to Milton. Especially if TAMU shows they can compete at a high level.
Bummer...
If we swing and miss on Evans, would Tank still be interested? Auburn is confident in him at the moment.
Meanwhile...Van Pran on deck after Milton?
This is great news. Makes it easier on the coaches. They don't have to spend time evaluating players - just base the depth chart on 247 rankings and Dawgnation film evaluations.
Just don't let Cam know he isn't very good or we'll lose him to Middle Tennessee State.
Why would he go to AM if they think he would be second fiddle to Milton? That should make him not want to go to AM if they told him that. He would not be second fiddle at UGA but a rotating 1A-1B.
I posted this earlier, important side-note is that Kelee also retweeted Van Pran's tweet
@WCDawg Thanks but...
Apologies for missing/not crediting . - hard to unroll some of these threads on the cell phone vs regular computer.
Very encouraging...
Speaking of Kelee - he just posted this which includes another 4 pics of him with/that include Evans. In recruitmentspeak - he’s proving to be relentless in press coverage 😜
To be clear jimbo and crew aren’t saying that, those are words straight from a tamu supporter. I guess that’s the optics of the situation on their end.
Just wanted to add the little sidenote! No need to apologize
@PanicSpringTour02
Yes I think UGA could easily motivate Lloyd and Tank. Tank pushing his recruitment back is seen as a success from those schools because if he decided today, most felt it would be UGA. Another name here is Chaney. Same situation as us wanting Burch to delay his decision into the season.
Gus will likely be fired, along with his offensive staff. Maybe Cadillac is retained. Muschamp will likely be on the hot seat but wouldn’t expect 19 to be his last season. Tank is making a wise decision waiting to see how the cookies crumble.
Not intending to be dismissive but the second RB is of little concern from my vantage point. We expect to land the #1 target and best fit for our system and the depth of that room will be one of the best in the country with or without the services of Evans, Tank, Chaney, or Lloyd. By end of week 3, we’ll be singing the praises of Kenny McIntosh too.
I think McIntosh is going to be a wrecking ball. He's a big dude and his main PT will likely be in 2nd half against a tired defense too.
I kind of figured this. Even if they (Jimbo and Co.) were saying that, you know Kirby and Dell just flip on tape of Chubb and Michel in 2017. They know how to use multiple backs.
You expect McIntosh to be able to contribute that early? Has he looked good so far?
