Duval with another dinger before the delay
Duvall's eyes got big when the ball was still halfway to the plate. He is zeroed in right now. Hopefully it isn't just a short term thing.
Fried took care of business tonight. Good outing for him.
We're getting to the point in the season where I look at what it will take for either Washington or Philly to catch us.
If we just play .500 the rest of the way ( 26-26) it will take one of them going 33-21 just to tie us. The longer we can hold this 7 game lead or expand it the tougher it will get for them.
He's very quietly proving (at least to me) that he belongs in the show. Love to watch him hit and run bases too. Now, if "Faulty" can get it back together, I'd feel pretty good.
Folty hasn't given up a home run in his last few starts in Gwinnett, so that's encouraging. Like it or not, I think we need 2018 Folty to max out our ceiling. I'm confident in Soroka and Keuchel but if you're turning to Julio or Fried in a series swinging Game 3 I'm probably getting a little bit antsy.
Yes, I'd be antsy too. JT has been lights out recently, but I still have the fear of him being a yo-yo type pitcher - up and down. Fried is still a pup and learning. Looks good for us down the road though.
No doubt a sub 3.00 Folty would be like signing a high number 2 starter. It's getting late though, the longer he doesn't do it, the more likely it seems he won't
If MF ( fun initials) could add a bit of bulk to his shoulders and lower body he has the mechanics to add some pop to his pitches without straining his body. It's always a bit risky to tinker unless something's broken, but the risk seems minimal.
I think he'll add some weight as he ages/matures/grows into his "grown man" body
Really ready for Dansby to get back, second double-play chance that Camargo hasn’t been able to make this series, both led to big innings. Was hoping that playing every day for a few games in a row would help get Camargo’s bat going, but hasn’t happened yet. Maybe he’ll get a big hit to help win this game. Our hitting with runners in scoring position has been terrible the last two nights.
Oops time to bring in Luke Jackson
Edit: move him back to closer!
Funny how things go sometimes. Greene blows a save in the 9th, Jackson strikes out the side in the 10th and gets the win. No doubt Luke has the stuff to help the team, he just doesn't have a closer's makeup. Greene will settle in and the pen will be solid the rest of the season.
Two players who impress me more every game with their approach, Albies and Donaldson. Both treat every play and every at bat like the game rides on it.
Duvall seems to do this as well
Duvall's history is of near complete feast or famine. His career OBP is terrible. That said, he was great in the minors this year and he's picked right up in Atlanta. He thinks he's figured something out with his approach, I sure hope so. This version 2.0 is killing it now.
