Exactly my point, which is why if Gus can beat 1 of those 3 this year and Florida then he keeps his job
Normally I would agree with you. But this is Auburn we are talking about.
They love the shiny new coach.
Haha true
Dell is an associate head coach now. This isn’t just a move to pay him more, Kirby believes in Dell in every sense. He legit is the VP of the UGA football program. Truthfully, he could be to au what Kirby is to UGA. I think Dell would be phenomenal there but hope he goes OOC. 2 years max with Dell is my thought unfortunately.
A few easy thoughts here. .....
-Kirby basically said this week that Dell is the man in charge when he's not around.
-Most might roll their eyes here, but I do think he clearly wants to see things through with James Cook and Zamir White at Georgia. Wrote the stories about how he told their families that he was going to make sure they grew up to be a man in Athens.
-While Auburn candidates are being tossed about, I'm quite surprised no one mentioned Tucker.
-A good year at CU and he'd have a lot of 5-star resume bullet points: 1) College playing experience; 2) NFL coordinator experience; 3) Assistant coach for a "natty" team under Saban's tree; 4) SEC championship level teams at UGA as a coordiantor in the SEC; 5) Strong recruiting success; 6) Very good "win the living room" personality; 7) HC experience at a major Power 5 school
-He'd be just as dangerous as anyone there. Especially with his knowledge of recruiting in the SEC already. With that, he'd likely bring over strong in-house UGA candidates that are absolutely mashing 500-foot homers in the recruiting and player development areas like Nick Williams and Bacarri Rambo.
-Mel as the Head coach. Dell as his OC. That's the one right there to be cautious about. Might make a few members of this thread pull a little harder for W.D.E this fall.
Absolutely scariest environment imaginable! My wife is an Auburn grad and I would never hear the end of it!!!
Here is hoping (perhaps praying?) that the "Gus Bus" STAYS PUT RIGHT WHERE IT IS AT there in Auburn!!!! I simply LOVE seeing him DO things like THIS whenever GEORGIA does what GEORGIA does to the BARN!!!!
-Mel as the Head coach. Dell as his OC.
The nightmare scenario for recruiting.
Not to bring race into it but .....
Eventually an African American coach will win big in the SEC and recruit really well.
Tucker to Auburn would only hurt Georgia in recruiting. Which means it gets felt on the field in short order.
It’s is possible to hate and love that thought at the same time?
I have faith that whatever happens with coach turnover, that Kirby has built a great environment for people (coaches/players) to come into and thrive. With Kirby as the constant, we will always be in a great spot for success. Eventually Dell/Coley/Lanning/Hartley/Warren/Scott will all leave, but I have faith that Kirby will have no problem finding excellent replacements, whether they are proven or green. Athens is a great place to live/raise a family, and Kirby is a great guy to be around/work for (unlike Saban).
Silver lining of Tucker to Auburn; might actually infuse a little class into that program.
It’s a good gig but if you have equitable options, dealing with those boosters can’t be very appealing.
I have no idea. Logically OCs have more exposure so I think Coley could be gone sooner than Dell but I have no clue.
What I’m confident in is that excluding Pittman, everybody is chasing the next move.
That is great that Dell is the guy in charge when Kirby isn’t around...but is he getting paid like the #2 guy? He should be the 2nd highest paid coach then, right? For most coaches it’s all about “show me the money”. I hope we are taking care of Dell.
Yep. I think Pittman is happy where he is. That is great because if we can only hold on to one coach long-term, I’d like it to be the OLine coach.
I don't think that you can fairly characterize Tucker as being from the Kirby tree. Tucker has been coaching since 1997 and had been a college and NFL defensive coordinator as well as an interim head coach in the NFL before he ever coached with Kirby. He had 1 year with Kirby at Alabama and 3 seasons at UGA. Same would apply to Pittman and Coley. The rest of the staff, depending on how long they stay with Kirby, could be attributed to his tree.
