That is not a college WR especially at a 4.9 40. Could develop into an elite edge rusher though.

This conversation has happened 1000 times, and Gilbert doesn't want to play defense. If we recruit and sign him as a WR then ask him to move to DE, that looks terrible for the program's image.

How about we recruit kids that want to fit into the program... and if he wants to play WR we let him play at UTjr. I think that plan is a little better than lying to him

That sounds like the plan that's in place to me. We must not be telling him what he wants to hear from wat I gather

But you let him be the one to ask for a position change.

Which is why I said “try to prove himself as a WR and let him realize for himself that it either is or isn’t in his best interest”

If he can be a good enough WR in our system to see the field, then more power to him. I want him in this 2020 class bad, but I don’t want it to be an deal breaker for Gilbert if Darnell is already committed (Gilbert doesn’t want to compete with Darnell from what I can tell based on info in here). So that’s why I bring up the WR thing. He thinks he’s a WR, but we all know he’ll be a DE on Sunday’s. Whether it’s Tennessee/Bama/Clemson there is a 85% chance Gilbert will finish his college career on the defensive side of the ball. Recruiting is recruiting and I don’t care what a 17 year old kid thinks is best for him, because he has no clue. I just want to get the kid signed and then let him find a position. He is too talented to let walk if at all possible.

I'm just speculating here but it sounds like gilbert will need some hard derecruitment in college. I think these 7vs7 camps and the media hype has him thinking he is randy moss

He’s a troll to the rest of us as well. Doubt he’s an alumni even. It’s the internet and he’s never delivered.

Dude I know we all care way too much and desperately want to see uga win, but the “I don’t care what he thinks he wants I know better” is distasteful. We already have shown we are above that with our recruitment of Justin Rodgers this year.

If Gilbert wants to play tight end, receiver, defensive end or even punter we should recruit him as such and be transparent if we don’t think he could do it. Again, we don’t need to resort to things like that to field an incredible team.

I wouldn’t mind if people who broke the news from other sites be asked to leave the forum. I don’t want this forum to be a place where we ruin a recruit’s one chance for his big moment

I’ve been saying this since the day he committed. I loved his high school film more than any croots in recent memory. Absolute shame we didn’t see him earlier last year.

Iys not that serious. This is a recruiting forum , people come for recruiting news. 99 percent of prospects who commit are figured out where they are going before they release it.
