National Left-Handers Day
About 10% of the population is left-handed. Scientists are unsure why people turn out left or right handed, but if one parent, at least, is left-handed, the chances go up for a child to be left handed. Often in olden times. lefties got a bum rap - not surprising since the latin - sinistra - meaning left - is also the root of the word sinister. At any rate, here's to Tua and any other lefties you might like/admire. Do you have a favorite lefty?
A nice confluence today is National Filet Mignon Day and National Prosecco Day - what a treat - a great steak and a nice wine. Hey, let's try to celebrate left=handed, at least the drinking part if not also the eating part.

Im a proud lefty!!!!
Tua is not a natural left hander. His dad was left handed and didn't want to be the only one in the family so he forced Tua to learn to do everything with his left hand. I feel really bad for that man's children.
My youngest son was ambidextrous as a child and he would put a fork in one hand and a spoon in the other to eat. It was wild to watch. He would also start writing on a piece of paper with his left hand and when he got to the middle of the paper he would switch off to his right hand. He finally went totally right handed though.
that's pretty awesome. I especially like the writing part where he'd switch in the middle of the page. Makes sense.
Lefty here! Left handed people are always in their 'right' minds. 😋
I'm a lefty. Well, I eat, write, and kick left handed/footed. But throw and swing right handed (switch-hit in baseball for awhile, but mostly righty).
Lefty here as well!
Shoot my bow and rifle left handed
Either hand for tennis and ping pong!
GO DAWGS!!!!
Lefty here. Back in the day youngster were made to switch if they started using their left hand. I was told my grandmother was.
Lefties are now increasing in number since that no longer happens. Or that's what I tell my wife. Everytime I see another lefty i point them out to her and say "see we're taking over the world". She loves it when I do that.
I eat , throw, write, etc left handed
Golf, bat, kick righty
Glad I'm not the only one.
This is how much she likes it. Text from her to me
Lefty here too!
If your youngest son has any natural athletic ability you may have wanted to encourage his left-handedness... It's advantageous in many sports. :)
Although, I was actually a left-handed catcher in baseball for a number of years -- definitely not an advantage.
I’m sure you got third base stolen on you often
He's a nerd. No interest in sports whatsoever. If it wasn't for the fact that he looks so much like me, I would swear that they sent me home with the wrong baby.
Lefty also - well mostly. Some sports a play right handed because the only hand-me-down equipment was right handed (golf, baseball, hockey, etc.). One advantage is that I play tennis all forehand!
We had a kid in my neighborhood who was left handed. We were pretty creative with his nickname. We called him Lefty. Tough nickname to shake. He was the only left hander in my town that I recall.
I've always wondered if this was a 70s/80s thing because so many kids were forced to play right handed. We just didn't have that many lefties playing ball much less having left handed golf clubs or baseball gloves in the local sporting goods store.
