National CBD Day
Let me start with a disclaimer...I'm just relaying what is printed on the site I use to find National Days. I'm not advocating any position or making any suggestions.
On August 8, National CBD Day recognizes the natural hemp product everyone’s clamoring for! Learn about CBD and updated laws impacting its use.
Over the years, hemp-derived CBD (cannabidiol) has made quite a name for itself in the wellness world. Since a growing number of products – from tinctures to topicals – hit the marketplace, CBD continues to be shoppers’ favorite option for holistic alternatives. As an added bonus, CBD does not possess the psychoactive properties of THC.
Another advantage of CBD is that it is naturally sourced and extremely versatile. Try swallowing it, vaping it, rubbing it on your skin, or bathing in it. You can even give it to your pets!
CBD Through the Ages
The hemp plant has withstood the test of time and politics; herbalists have long used hemp to promote wellness, while farmers have grown it as a source of fiber to make cloth and rope. But in the 20th century, governments clamped down on all things cannabis and everything related to it.
Nowadays, political leaders recognize what scientists long knew: properly sourced CBD won’t get you high. Since 2018, the federal government has defined hemp, which has little or no THC in it (less than .03% to be exact), as a legal plant that is distinct from marijuana. Therefore, hemp-based products like CBD oil don’t fall under national anti-drug laws.
Comments
As my "handle" states , I am a pharmacist. One word of advice and caution. CBD products CAN and DO provide relief of many symptoms from inflammation, anxiety and chronic nausea. But..... if you take medications for depression and some types of seizure meds, use of CBD at the same time can be DANGEROUS.
Just ask your pharmacist! GO DAWGS!!!!
Funny thing about it @rxdawg84 is that CBD by itself less dangerous than almost any other prescription drug. And that's in no way meant as a knock on you or what you do. It just is what it is - a plant that I personally believe we were meant to use to our benefit. CBD has helped my anxiety as a stressed out business owner immensely, and helps with most any aches and pains.
@donm I'm highly advocating it.
I prefer CBD's cousin
Quick story on the cousin as a pain reliever. I tore all the ligaments in my right ankle junior year. Had to wear a cast for six weeks. After a week on crutches, I was cleared to walk in the cast. First day I could, I walked everywhere, cheering on my team and enjoying life again. That night, my ankle swelled up so much inside that cast that I experienced pain on a level I had never felt before. I was pretty tough, but that pain almost killed me! A good friend of mine from Kyoto, Japan said he had a remedy and had me smoke the CBD cousin with him. I’m certainly not advocating that choice for anyone else, but it relieved the pain in a way no OTC drug could. Since then, I’ve been a believer, and completely understand the position NFL players take on the medicinal benefits of marijuana!
I'm ready for any DV’s and retorts coming my way, but can only speak to my personal experience.
No reason for anyone to DV you.
My husband smokes. I have a machine that makes his cigarettes. I have been so tempted to buy the cousin and run it through that machine. Especially when he's running our well dry with hot water when his back won't ease off.
@domn is this your way of telling us that you're celebrating the 50th anniversary of Woodstock by partaking? 😂
Has he tried CBD oil? It's legal as long as it contains less than .03 of THC content. You can get it a at most herbal shops or Vape shops. Of course it you get it in the "vape" form you'll need to have a vaping pen or device.
There is also a THC based vaping oil that is not legal in GA at this time, but it's out there. This is the growing alternative to the actual "grown" smoked variety, A lot more discreet but does contain the "high" associated with THC.
Of course I only know this because I asked a friend..........
He has to go to the pain clinic every month and he's afraid of failing the drug test. I keep mentioning it. It only took me 2 years to talk him into an insulin pump. I'll get there eventually.
My wife’s company sells cbd oil and cvs lotion for pain.
It has done WONDERS for me. I’m a HUGE fan.
@DvilleDawg you need to give this a try.
@bmauldin, can you get me some info?
In all honesty I have inhaled and experimented a bit. But those days are long past. Long past. I don’t even do beer any more. Mostly water and OJ and lots of sleep. I know, booorinnng.
Terrific insight. I’ll add that it’s not just the benefits of weed. Its the benefits of not having to use opiates to alleviate pain.
Definitely. I’ll shoot you a message.
