Yea but a lot of that hay was in the barn when Richt was fired
DW actually weighs ~265. Similar numbers at 2 inches taller ~10-15 lbs heavier.
Gotcha.
But those similar numbers weren’t at ~265 lbs. They were at 248.
Those aren’t similar numbers on Vertical - he’s not a better athlete. The 2.5” in height aren’t an advantage- especially when coupled with a vertical that is 4” less. A 29” vert is substandard for an athlete said to be elite.
Respectfully disagree with The Godfather 😎
Not trying to be that guy. Just was that was the first year I really paid attention to recruiting
Based on what exactly? He’s not better now? DW will never be a better receiver. Is DW an elite blocker? Haven’t seen those video clips yet - we know he is a more willing blocker at this point so we like that better about DW.
I don’t have a problem with DW at all and I am sure he wouldn’t have good to better career at UGA - just saying he isn’t the same caliber athlete and receiving threat as Gilbert.
Theo has a 40 inch very btw. I still think he's the highest draft pick of the 3 when it's all said and done.
Why does one need a 40 vert when he is 6’8.....what NFL TE even needs a 40 vert, they are taller than everybody except linemen and the QB usually. Anyhow, I wouldn’t get hung up on vert....see the photo Jeff posted in Sentells Intel and tell me whether the vert matters again. But let’s stay focused......I’m going to go Kirby special with our next commit and it being someone not named Evans, Ringo, or Washington.
You are literally basing “same caliber athlete” based off a 4-5 inch vertical difference. How many 6’8” guys do you know that can jump over 30” or should I say, even needs to?
Also, on what grounds do you have to say that DW won’t be a better receiver than AG? It’s okay that you think AG is a better fit in your opinion, but all your accusations about him not going to be a better receiver or even a better athlete without ever seeing the kid play or him ever stepping foot on a college field is absolute asinine. Just say you like AG more and leave it at that. Both will be great players.
But it’s WAYYYY too soon to say one WILL BE better than the other
Someone seems hurt about Gilbert becoming a creamsicle. Most of us are going to be very excited to have DW in Athens. Gilbert will be very good, but there’s nothing else to pitch to the kid.
He was not at 248 anytime this calendar year.
It’s more impressive to me that a guy 2.5 inches taller and 15 lbs heavier runs the same speed and is just as agile as AG in shuttle. That’s insane. That means he can get in and out of breaks just as fast, as well as be a vertical threat down field vs a LB or even a Safety. But you’re focusing on a vertical that if Gilbert and DW stood next to each other and jumped, they’d have just about the same peak in the air within an inch or less.
