National Read A Book Day / National Food Bank Day

donmdonm Posts: 10,241 ✭✭✭✭✭ Graduate

We have a great thread on this forum which discusses some of our favorite books. Today is a day to remind us about the joys of both reading - so take this opportunity to start, continue and/or finish a good book. You know you won't do it tomorrow!!

With all of the devastation already done and some left to come, consider donating food to a local food bank. There are always needy folks around and if you consider yourself blessed and can afford it, help someone out who may not be as fortunate.

Go Dawgs!!!

Readins fer siccies. honestly I've gotten out of the habit of reading worthwhile books the past few years. The last great book I read was Ron Chernow's amazing biography on George Washington. There really is no good substitute for how a great read enriches the mind. I noticed a sign regarding a sale of donated books at The Rome Library when I was there last week. I might drop some off tomorrow.

I love when our library has their older books sale. I've found some treasures.

As to the food bank day. It's good to get into the habit of donating every so often. It's also very eye opening to volunteer to work at the food bank. My son and I volunteer, not as much as we should, and we both love it.
