I love slaw dogs, just not the ones at the Varsity. Actually, the slaw ain't too bad. It's finely chopped, and I prefer coarse. But not bad.
The problem is the dogs. They're of low quality IMO. And the dogs are barely warm.
If you like crunchy food, the slaw sold in bags at the grocery store is pretty good. Just add cole slaw dressing to taste. Not that Marzetti crap. Use Maries.
My $.02......Slaw is a side dish.
When we lived in Lake Norman,Nc we went to a local bbq joint that got great reviews. My wife was pregnant. I ordered a few sandwiches to go. Got back in the car and I couldn’t wait. Opened the wrapper and poof, it’s got cole slaw on it. I went back and was like hey, for some reason there’s slaw in this. Apparently it’s a “thing” in NC. Much to my surprise, it was very good with the bbq . Haven’t had another like it though!
At least we can all agree that ketchup on a hot dog is an abomination and should be considered a crime against humanity.
While ketchup is thought to be a derivative of a chinese fish sauce, it is now as American as it gets, with 97% of households having a bottle. Unfortunately, ketchup is now another product being targeted by those who don't love America and want to change the country.
Yes, ketchup does go well on a hotdog, but not a brat.
Ketchup is for little kids who want candy on everything. @ me
Red slaw on errthing!
No slaw on a BBQ sandwich.
No
A good slaw is fine on anything in my book. I like it on BBQ sandwiches, hotdogs, burgers and yes, even Chic-fil-a chicken sandwiches......when they used to carry coleslaw. Nothing like a Chic-fil-a with coleslaw, mustard and extra pickles. Bummed me when they took the slaw off their menu....
Just a short story about coleslaw:
My dad and Truett Cathy were close friends. Truett was an avid car collector as is my dad and they traveled to collector car auctions and swap meets quite often. At one event while taking in the events, they came across "Coleslaw Wrasslin' " which had 2 bikini clad females wrestling each other in a vat of coleslaw. Dad said that Truett stood there and watched for a minute or so, and being the good Christian man he was, turned to may dad and said " That sure looks like a waste of some good coleslaw to me...."
That was some years prior to Truett's passing, but I still wonder why they dropped coleslaw soon after he passed away....
dont know if it’s a word or not but I got called out once for calling a chick a bro on this board. Thought I knew who were the chicks on here. So I started using broette for them
Maybe that is better Kasey bro
@YaleDawg bro, let’s take a deep breath. Mustard on a chili dog is acceptable, plain chili on a dog is acceptable, bbq and sauce on a dog is acceptable, a plain dog from a stand is acceptable, and a good ole American dog with both ketchup and mustard is acceptable. Outside of that is a nope for me
@Kasey bro... stop that nonsense.
I can dig it @Casanova_Flatulence bro. I prefer it that way, but it’s still pretty good if you got a itch
