I think we could lose out and win the division, but let's not. I want 100 wins.
Still, I want 100.
100 has a nice ring to it. Like running a mile in 3:59.9 sounds better than running one in 4:00.0
McCann is killing us with all the double plays he’s hitting into.
He is veeeeery slow afoot. It takes him an hour and a half to watch 60 Minutes.
I still want to win 100 but it looks like the team is letting up after really killing it to win the division. This is the 1st series we've lost since July 21st.
One way to look at it is the team was able to dominate in the clutch. Hopefully they can find that groove again for the playoffs.
Glad to see Acuna get his 40th HR today, hopefully he’ll relax and start making better contact. Hope he gets his 40 stolen bases, will put him in some elite company. He joined Mel Ott and Eddie Mathews today as the only players to have 40 HR seasons before turning 22 years old.
Anyone going to the game tomorrow to see the braves clinch?
Beat me to it. To me what is more impressive than who had a 40 HR season before turning 22 is the long list of all time great power hitters who didn't do it. This in a sport that was the national game for over 100 years.
Love hearing Frenchy rag on him during the broadcast. Talking about watching BMac rounding the bases being "the most exciting 2 minutes in sports!"
That's awesome. Love it.
I'm sure you know they go back to grade school together. Catching wears the body down for sure. Brian had great hands with the bat when he came up, his bat speed is a fraction of what it once was.
Folty has been pitching his tail off since coming back up. If his next start is a good one, he could be our game 2 starter.
McCann making me look bad with the HR tonight, hopefully a sign of good things to come. Another great outing by Folty, makes we wonder which of our starting pitchers will be the odd man out in the playoffs - Julio or Fried? If it was up to me, I would use Fried as the 4th starter, but think they will probably go with Julio.
NL EAST CHAMPS 2019 !!
This is setting up to be a very memorable sports weekend. Folty has without doubt pitched his way into the postseason rotation. This was a masterful game for him.
This seems like a good point to give our guesses as to the postseason rotation. There are some tough choices but here is mine.
1.Keuchel. a very calm and collected guy. I don't think the moment will faze him
.2.Folty. Based purely on his last 12 starts he'd be 1st up. I don't think he needs that pressure though.
3.Soroka. He has been far better on the road than at home or he'd be 1 or 2.
4.Julio. He has to be in there somewhere. He's been very dependable all season
Fried will be the reserve starter and ultra long reliever, he's good enough to start, but there are only 4 spots, maybe just 3 in td 1.
I would slot Soroka as the #1 starter. He's been our most dependable pitcher this entire year, but otherwise I agree with you.
I don't think he wants to start at home. He has been FAR better on the road this season.
I would say the opponent matters, too. Against the Cardinals I'd probably give Julio a shot due to his experience. However, were we to get through to the dodgers that might change. He's had trouble keeping the ball in the yard the last few outings and you can't have that against that lineup. You will pay bigly.
Snitker has some tough choices to make.
No doubt. I wonder if the series gets to 2-1, for instance, could you see a setup where Teheran starts but only goes 3. Then Fried comes in for 3 and you go from there. That would throw variety at them in terms of speed, matchups, etc and would also allow you to go all hands on deck, everyone available the next game if you had to.
If you mean a preplanned 3 inning stint, probably not. Of course starters are on a shorter leash when a loss vs a win is so critical though. That is why it will be nice to have a really good starter on standby.
