To be fair nobody is saying be more aggressive by running fake punts and fake field goals. There is a such thing as controlled aggression. I didn’t watch the game but I did keep up with the score and UVA was holding their own. While Bryce Perkins who isn’t a better passer than Fromm threw for over 300, so that kind of downplays your vaunted ND secondary argument.
You don’t think with how far down Virginia was they’d throw more? And that ND would play soft? Fact remains is ND is a double tough team and we got a great win out of the deal with room for improvement
UVA lead at half? Can you honestly say ND is the best defense we’ll face? You just said what everyone is echoing, improvement. Some just have different definitions of that improvement.
They didn’t lead in the 4th quarter?
I would say their DE are better than FU. Barns DTs may be better. They may not be the best overall, but they’re in the top 3
Considering our schedule that’s not hard to do. You said they were so behind of course they were throwing more when in fact they were ahead at half time. If ND is THAT good you wouldn’t have to defend them so hard. They had a good game plan and they executed it well. For the first few weeks the excuse was we’re saving stuff for ND, we don’t want to show ND everything. We’ll know about our offense when ND comes to town. Well they did and we trotted out the same vanilla game plan that will win every game on our schedule except probably Auburn. At what point do the other fans that share your point of view quit making the excuses? Everyone complaining about the offense is thinking about the post season and y’all are just glad we won the game. And I get the Donnan and Goff argument but shouldn’t we have moved past that? Does Bama get excited because they barely won a game? Does OSU care that they won this game or that? They all expect to be in the playoffs and win championships. If we win a championship playing offense the way we are I’ll gladly eat crow
Most teams suffer a letdown and play worse the week after a game like we played against ND. Very thankful we didn’t have to play this week.
Thank you sir, we share the same opinion.
This is SO true...It was an impressive showing for ND 2 weeks in a row...Virginia is better than people on here will ever give them credit for...
My I point out something I read in article this morning...
"Fighting Irish finished with 8 sacks, forced 5 turnovers and had 4 rushing touchdowns in the win.
Against Georgia, those numbers were 0, 0 and 0."
Yeah, I think ND is pretty good...and I think we are pretty great.
Does playing w/o both starting CBs change the game plan a little to protect the D?
Ha! Here it is. I figured there'd be a topic about this and whatyaknow, it's the very first one listed (at the time of this posting)
Here's the thing, I agree. I didn't have much of a problem with what we did against Notre Dame except for one thing. We couldn't attack downfield through the air. Couldn't...wouldn't... whatever. If we can't do that for the rest of the year, we are likely to lose from not being able to keep up. I think this is where our WR attrition is going to bite us. I hope they can get it together. One 1 hand I love that 2 of our freshmen our playing so well. But on the other hand I hate that we are having to play them.
Well, I've read the first page so far.... Let's hope the last 4 are a little more worthwhile.
It's neem mentioned several times on this board, in various threads, it was not our offense that let us down in the last 2 minutes of the NCG. We scored enough to win if. only.....
If you peruse the site you can find thousands of comments on the offense. For $100 I'll summarize all of them in 2 paragraphs. As there's basically 2 viewpoints being repeated over and over and over...
Death, taxes, and GA fans griping about the OC.
