Agree. Kirby doesn't seem to want a full back on the roster so they'll occasionally use our TEs as blocking backs. At 6'5 - 6'6 TE aren't ideal blocking backs....too high.
A 6'1 H back may be a good solution.
It is scary how close we are on a lot of things, tex.
Especially a FB that can be explosive and do things other than lead and wham block. See San Fran, Baltimore and Seattle for inspiration.
Who was the BEAST FB we had a couple of yeas ago with the full cage facemask?? I want to say that he started as a DT and became a fullback. He was a bigger kid as well.
Georgia recruits Henderson as a flex end. TE. They would want him to do this. Not every week, though.
Just in Clemson and Jacksonville and Knoxville and Columbia and Tuscaloosa and most definitely in Mercedes-Benz Stadium.
Not sure how those defenders could look their coaches in the face after that play.
Or the QB with his QB coach/OC after throwing it in triple coverage.
I can't remember who that was.
Quayvon Hicks... great freshman year.
Being on the sideline for 20 years you have seen just about every type of offense and defense. And you've been around long enough that you coached prior to the up tempo change. So you and I have experienced many of the same things.
Most head coaches and OCs that I know, who run an up tempo spread offense.... hate it. They know that it kills the defense. Bit they also know that without dominant lineman.....it's their only way to score many points
As a defensive coach I much preferred facing an up tempo spread offense. I knew we would give up points but I also knew we could punish the QB because of lack of protection, chance at interceptions, and a chance the opposing team would make more mistakes......dropped passes and holding calls from pass blocking.
Without the dominant DL I hated to play the power teams. They were physical and it always took its toll on my lineman. They didn't typically score as many points but it was like a slow painful death.......4-7 yds at a time. And power teams made fewer mistakes.
So I'm not a huge fan of the LSU and OU type of offense.
Just tell them the Tae Crowder story.
@ClemTown @SoFL_Dawg I appreciate y'all's consistent candidacy. Good, bad, and everything in between, I always appreciate the info you guys funnel in here. If it weren't for y'all and Jeff I wouldn't check the forum half as much hahaha. Hoping our defensive dominance, team success, and family feel reel Burch in. I like where we stand.
Interesting development from MarShawn Lloyd.
So he is transferring schools for a month and a half to graduate early now ? (Or some type of home school, online courses ?)
Think if Boom leaves, he will flip? Wonder what his second choice would be? Probably PSU
2nd choice - Maryland
I actually live in Delaware and heard about this coming into the year. He is from Middletown, DE. They actually played IMG last year. Rumor was that he was going to finish his senior year at Middletown, but that never happened. I guess we know why now.
Not sure if this belongs in The thread but 2020 recruiting related:
So I was messing around with the class calculator on tos and I stumbled on LSU class and how is it that they only have 1 OL commit who happens to be a 3 * og.
how?
you would think Evans would not sign up for that. Also couldn’t you pitch Burch at UGA he’d face the best OL in practice a la iron vs iron.
I’m baffled, grateful we have Pittman.
@ClemTown can’t wait for UGA /Clem to renew our rivalry on the field. It will make these recruiting battles mean more
Been saying this forever. UGA and CU need to play every year imo. These days there would be about 14 NFL players on the field together collectively from both sides. It’d be nuts
Good takes here by @Dawgy_Fresh as we mentioned that on "Hedges" over the last month. That class with 9 DLs and 1 OL is baffling. The Tigers only signed 5 OLs in 2019. There was only one top 150 player (Kardell Thomas) in that mix, too.
2-year signees forcecast for LSU:
2019 and 2020 OLs: 6
2019 and 2020 DLs: 13
The Tigers also have zero OL commits for 2021. Will Caleb Williams see a wall there besides the elite Kardell Thomas?
Priorities, man. But I bet that DL is going to quite nasty. Especially with Mr. Guillory and his 700-plus pound squat. He is the nation's No. 12 DT for 2020. LSU has the nation’s No. 4, 12, 25, 29 and 45 DTs for 2020.
And that bar moved fast too. He had more in the tank on that one. Crazy.
He squats around 740-750.
G or T for them?
