Watched the Sam Brown kids highlight reel on hudl. He has a big catch radius and is fast. He mostly runs a go, an extended bubble screen or a hitch. Very one dimensional offense, but not his fault. When he did run the one post he only needed 2 chop steps to turn.
So Raw in his routes but has speed. How were his hands ? (Having issues with Hudl PW at the moment)
I think the offers at WR are more really an attempt at starting to flip the room over even if it's with guys that are late evals.
At least on 247 it says that there are 10 WR on the roster, and when you look at things:
Lose:
Tyler Simmons/Lawrence Cager
May Lose:
Demetris Robertson
Very unknown:
Trey Blount (will he change positions? will he transfer)
Even if you don't lose Robertson, if you count the "in the now" and Blount does change positions or for whatever reason remains a non-factor, you'll have 10 WRs on the roster if you were to just go with who you have committed and on the roster.
Not sure that's enough, especially with the unknowns.
Seems like they're going to try to take 5 at the WR spot, even if it's late evals. Could end up being 2 more WR and another transfer. And the only guy that's still out there that I'd have some confidence in getting is Arian Smith at least at this spot.
3 SEC offers in a day, kid may just be a late bloomer too
Seemed impressive. Made some contested catches and one nice diving grab toward the sideline. Would have been a lot more impressed if he’d come up with interceptions on the 2 passes he broke up a FS.
not sure if the route running is raw or just an uninspiring playbook. He did make some guys miss with moves after the catch
Yeah these late offers are “Plan B” and “Plan C” guys. Not good.
Reminds me of Latavious Brini and Ameer Speed from the 17 class
Hope he turns out more like Eric Stokes
Pretty hard to understand how a guy runs a 4.45 In the forty, but a 4.66 on the shuttle.
Maybe a bad testing day? But that shuttle time would really limit a receiver if accurate.
Sounds like a bad day as the film shows he has some quickness (junior film)
Stokes will be a starting CB in NFL. Hella player!
That would be an impressive position change /s
@Supra The kid I saw on film moved better than that, but then again they did run him on a lot of go routes
I mean, I'm glad Kirby has decided to bring in more WRs but I'm not sure that bringing in a bunch of really raw guys who may or may not develop isn't pretty much what led to the bottom half of the current depth chart...
Kirby has shown he can take a lesser known guy and turn him into a player on defense. For that matter so has Dell with RBs. I'm not sure this current staff is known for developing WRs.
