I’m a big believer that championship teams are built inside out (tho LSU is bucking that). That being said, I’m a little anxious about Jones. Is he as good as his rating? If so, he seems critical. Burch too. If any of y’all that are in the know and care to offer an opinion - who are the best 2 Oline targets and Dline targets?
Mock going into ESD
QB (2) Beck, TBD (Mike Wright/Portal)
RB (1) Kendall Milton
OL (5) Jones, Tate, Willock, Lindberg, SVPG
TE (1) Washington
WR (4) Rosemy, Burton, Robinson, Smith
DL (5) Burch, Carter, Brinson, Stack, Jackson
LB (1) Sherman
DB (4) Ringo, Kimber, Reed, Burns
K (1) Zirkel (BS)
Thoughts?
Thoughts? That would be incredible
From what I’m hear:
Burch - mom wants Burch close to home but USCjr is too volatile with Muschamp probably entering last year. Burch wants LSU. UGA will be middle ground and landing spot.
Confident on all of these - Ringo, Washington, Burch, Burns, Reed, Manning, Smith and Burton. That gives us 23 commits/signees.
only uncertainty is CJ Stroud. Rusty feels good but just not sure where he fits or who would be left out for him.
LSU is working hard to keep Burton and backup plan would be Sam Brown. I expect Sam Brown to go to UF (Burton = Dawg).
Fromm comes back and Coley won’t be calling plays in 2020 (at least after Sugar Bowl)
Love it! Then wait to see how many transfer or declare to see how many spots we have for signings/ transfers in on NSD?
I like it and think you are about dead on......that class would please everyone.
I do gave a feeling we might sign 5 DBs.....but I also get the UGA/Oregon connection with 2 of the guys.
Is Flowe gonna be Oregon bound? Flowe and Sewell is a friggin haul
Whoa that’s some heat in there. I like it. I too am curious about Manning, haven’t heard enough post OV so sticking with original chatter which is that we split Ringo/Manning with Oregon. I feel great on Ringo but wild love to take both, as Manning is the best of remaining DBs (excludes Kimber/Ringo).
Who would you project to call plays in 20? Is that TBD (new hire)?
I haven’t heard much positivity on Stroud. Obviously would welcome that addition. Everything I’m hearing lately is Fromm is leaning to NFL.
Yeah I like the 5 DBs but I don’t think we can sign 5 DL and 5 DBs.
Ive been told we are going to go after McKinnley Jackson post ESD. I’ve also been told he’s waited for an UGA offer so this could heat up fast once ESD is over. All the big boys will fight over him too so we’ll see.
Both are vital positions so I’d be fine either way.
Don’t know, just confident he’s not coming here. Industry says Oregon though.
Jackson seems like a fiery hot commodity right now... every board is talking about him. That would be a huge DL haul.
Interested to know who you have in mind to be the play caller
We would have **** depth
I could see it being Luke, but not confirmed yet. Coley is appreciated for his recruiting and don’t see him getting OC role elsewhere. If he gets HC offer, he might bolt and who calls plays will be TBD (Luke or new hire).
a lot of mixed chatter on Fromm but hearing he told staff he is returning.
honestly worried
IMO can never have enough DL. You’re right though, he’s a major target for everyone.
I think Fromm returning helps us in 2020 but I think it might hurt us in 2021 as don’t see Caleb Williams seeing anything appealing to him. Staff feels good about Mathis but got to be careful with recovery given brain injury.
Has Jackson visited? I noticed he was mentioned earlier on tos
No point in worrying at this point. The work has been put in for ESD. It’s going to be what it’ll be. Been a rollercoaster for sure this cycle, but all in all, staff looks to have plugged every hole.
If I could change anything that’s realistic, I’d add Wren back in and drop the 4th DB. Take 5 WRs.
Yeah, I don’t think QB2 would be such a priority if that were the case but it’s possible. That said, staff now looking at Mike Wright. Indicators are he’s leaning pro imo.
If he returns, we have 5 QBs and 4 on scholarship. Sounds like Mathis will be cleared soon, Preistly not on scholly but he could be. He’s as good as Downing was imo.
